I don't really have any secrets. All you need are good base sprites, a good image of the character you're making for reference, and time/patience. It also doesn't matter what art program you use, I use MS Paint myself.

I remember those sprites Truth. They were awesome.

But T_Ts Capcom style MK sprites are really some of the best I've ever seen.If Capcom made a Street Fighter VS. Mortal Kombat in the style of MK.

Wow, a lot of good stuff here. Hard to choose. I'll vote for tetra vega. I don't make sprites, but it seems like there might be less room for mistakes when you're working with images of actual humans rather than hand drawn characters. Still they are all very good.
