PROLOGUE
CHAPTER I
CHAPTER II
CHAPTER III
Chapter IV will continue where Chapter III left off. It will involve Sub-Zero's travels through the Netherrealm, and will finish the Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero arc. We will meet Sareena, Jataaka, Kia, of course. Quan Chi and Scorpion will appear again. And – what I'm most excited about – we will meet Shinnok (who, in my opinion, I have cooked up the most awesome personality for!).
Comments greatly appreciated!

I am impressed with what you have done so far. The prologue serves well to inform us about the torunament, but why is Raiden speaking to a kid about it? Also while I loved the fight between Sub-Zero and Scorpion in the first chapter, why was it so short, (though i suppose Subby's powers made a difference) and why was scorpion's son spared? Also, when will you post more chapters?

Raiden is speaking to a child about it because I wanted to set the stage by making Mortal Kombat feel like an old folk tale. I cannot envision an adult telling another adult a folk tale like that in seriousness. Obviously the reader knows the basic legend of the Mortal Kombat Tourbament before reading this, but I kind of wanted the reader to still have that sense of awe when the realize "the legend is true."
It was short because I said all I needed to say. I also find that a fight scene that's too long is tedious (if it's written – if you're watching it, that's a totally different story).
And, as to why Scorpion's son was spared – I have an actual really good reason for that. An awesome twist on an old character that, hopefully, the reader won't see coming...(it's a secret).
And, as to when I'll post more...I'll post more as I write them. Since I (finally) have a job now, it's taking me a little longer. But, I'm half-way through the chapter introducing the Special Forces Agents: Sonya, Jax, and (a character I'm finally giving a face to) Gemini.

Man, I sure liked reading that excerpt. That is a great take on MK so far. I really don't have any negative criticism for you. Of course, if I was to write something like that, things may be a little different, but to each his own. Your writing style makes for an interesting read, and I was never bored. (Despite most the story being kinda "new" stuff that wasn't in the games). I really can't wait to read more from your novel, and I don't know if Ed Boon + friends will let you go threw with that, but i sure hope they do. Keep writing, and I'll keep reading.

Thank you both, very much for your kind words.
I hope the following chapters are as well-received as the first.

Well done!! I'm liking chapter two also! This novel is awesome! NRS should hire you as a writer.. I feel like your very good at describing the action scenarios in the "real world" sort to speak, but I am curious about how the writing will sound when we get to the supernatural scenes? Anyhow, keep up the good work! When should we expect the next chapter?

Thank you both, again. You're words are what is keeping me writing.
To answer your questions, next I'll be introducing Quan Chi, and redoing the entire Mythologies plot, so we'll get to see a lot of supernatural scenes. We'll see the gods of the temple of the amulet, we'll get to see the Netherrealm, and meet Shinnok, and the sisters of the Brotherhood of the Shadow. And I've gotten a few major twists planned. Hopefully I'll have it done in the next few days.

OH man!! SZM plot! Im so pumped, this is gonna be awesome! But please don't let us rush you.. I'd rather wait a little longer and have an excellent chapter, than a rushed one. Also, can you say when we'll be possibly seeing Reptile?

Thank you. I'm about half-way done with it right now...so, hopefully, it won't take too much longer.
In regards to when Reptile will appear: I cannot say in what chapter, specifically; but he will be premiering in the MK1 story-arc. I have a lot planned for him, he's becoming a real tragic character, more than just a henchman. Every single playable MK character will be making an appearance in this story (except for MAYBE Skarlet - since her biography for the new game has yet to be released, depending on how far along I am in writing when we find out about her, she might not make it in). But every character will appear, and will be IMPORTANT. I'm not going to be having any "throw-away" characters appearing just for the sake of appearing. Each character will be three-dimensional, and have a developed backstory. So, just to paraphrase, I don't know in exactly which chapter Reptile will first appear, but he will appear, and he'll be a main character.

I was wondering when chapter III will come out?
Work's been hectic lately; but Chapter III will be out very soon (although, I do have to split the Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero arc into two chapters. So we'll have that story in Chapter III and Chapter IV; instead of just Chapter III).
Incidentally, in Chapter III, I decided to make two classic MK characters gay.

Hmm... I wonder who it will be? Raiden and Fujin? Sub-Zero and Smoke? Quan Chi and Shinnok? They all sound pretty plausible.

I may be straight, but I'm definitely looking forward to the coming out, lol.

Personally, I agree with that. However, the two characters I decided to make gay, I did so for a reason (SPOILER):
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
I decided to make Sektor and Cyrax gay, because I believed that if they had a very strong, romantic relationship while they were still allies, it would make their eventual rivalry even stronger and more meaningful. As I mentioned previously, my goal is to really develop all the Mortal Kombat characters, and, in this case, making Sektor and Cyrax three-dimensional meant making them fall in love.

It's not done in an over-the-top way. In fact, it's subtle, and only (strongly) hinted at. And, again, it was done to develop the characters, and make their interactions more three-dimensional, not done just to make them gay.

Updated with Chapter III!
Also, in case anyone is interested, here are a few tidbits about the chapter (spoilers may follow).
A few of the weapons I mention in the chapter that people may not be familiar with are (with links to pictures): the leiomano, the mameluke sword, the khopesh, the three-section staff, the willow leaf saber, and the dao.
Also, the translations for the names "Cyrax" and "Sektor" that I used were: "使惹可死" and "死苦突" respectively.
Incidentally, in regards to Chapter III, although there are variations on the legend, the one that Quan Chi tells regarding zombis is an actual legend (not just something I made up). And bokors are a real class of priest in Vodou. And yes, they do make zombi powders. And, yes, tetrodotoxin is a chemical that has been found in every zombi powder that has been studied, and it does have the actual properties that Quan Chi describes in Chapter III.
