MORTAL KOMBAT: Liu Kang 2

``Raiden!'' Liu Kang called as he stepped into the center of Raiden's brick stoned tower. The atmosphere was dense as the clouds swirled below.

``Raiden!'' Liu yelled again. A strong gust of wind blew by in response. Liu sighed and sat down his legs crossed. He clasped his hands together and closed his eyes. Silence surrounded him as he meditated. Where are you, Liu thought to himself. Not a minute passed before the sound of feet grabbed Liu's attention.

``Raiden won't be joining us,'' A female voice said. Liu jumped to his feet. He turned to where the voice had sounded. A tall light brown woman stood in front of a green and white portal. She wore a green and black skin tight outfit; a female ninja uniform. Her mouth and nose was covered by a dark green veil. In her hands was a silver plated bo staff. Her black, raven hair was tied in a bun.

``Where is he?'' Liu growled shifting his feet. The veil pressed tightly against the woman's face as she smirked. She moved aside. In front of the swirling portal, suspended in the air was the God of Thunder, Raiden. Liu stepped forward. The female outstretched her bo, the pointed tip pressing against Liu's neck.

``Uh uh,'' The female teased, her free finger wagging side to side.

``Who are you?'' Liu Kang asked through gritted teeth.

``Jade,'' the female answered, ``But you won't live long to remember it anyways.''

Raiden grunted gaining Jade's attention. Using the chance, Liu swiped the staff away from his neck. Jade spun to find Liu in air, flying towards her with a kick.

Jade ducked and rolled on the floor. Liu zoomed passed her. Jade was on her feet ready to fight, her staff clutched tightly in both hands. Liu landed on the ground and turned to face Jade. Liu lowered himself into his stance.

With a cry, Jade rushed forward. She swung her staff as she approached Liu. Liu leaned backwards, the tip of the staff missing him by inches. Liu reached forward and gripped Jade's wrist. Liu pulled on Jade, reeling her in his direction. Liu raised his knee having it collide into the ninja's stomach. Jade gasped as her breath escaped her. Quickly, Liu twister her hand and brought his leg into her back, crushing her into the floor.

Liu stepped back putting enough space between him and Jade. She lay unmoving on the ground. Keeping his eyes trained on Jade, Liu approached Raiden.

``Raiden,'' Liu said. Raiden's head nodded to the side, his eyes shut. A bright silver ring was tightened around Raiden's hands, crushing them by his side. Liu stretched his hand towards the ring. A purple electricity bolt shocked Liu's hand, strangely leaving no mark.

``What kind of sorcery is this?'' Liu questioned aloud as he examined Raiden. A large pain shot through Liu; Jade's staff had jabbed into Liu's spine. With a quick twisting motion, Jade thrust Liu aside. Liu crashed and tumbled onto the ground.

Jade cart wheeled towards Liu as he began to painfully rise to his feet. Jade landed on her feet and spun; her face close to the floor, her leg swinging high. Her foot caught Liu in the jaw spiraling him into the air and onto the floor. Blood trickled down Liu's lip, his gaze shifting in and out of focus as he lay on the ground.

``Get up fool,'' Jade hissed. She walked forward towards Liu. He winced as his muscles tightened. Need to time this right, Liu told himself as Jade approached.

``I said, GET UP!'' Jade exclaimed, raising the staff high into the air. In a quick motion, Jade stabbed down at Liu. Liu rolled to the side, the staff penetrating the spot where he had been laying. Liu spun on the floor, his foot kicking the staff away from Jade's hands. Jade reeled backwards as Liu jumped to his feet; his arm stretched out and grabbed Jade before she could fall.

Liu thrashed his elbow into Jade's nose and followed it with a punch to her lip. Dazed, Jade stumbled backwards, her back towards the portal. With a yell, Liu launched a fireball in the shape of a dragon's head. Its mouth opened wide and tackled Jade into the portal.

Jade flew backwards her hand reaching out. Her finger's tightened around Raiden's shoulder. Liu rushed forward his hand grasping for Raiden. The portal closed as Jade and Raiden entered it. Liu stared in shock at the empty spot before him. On the other side of the portal sat Shao Kahn on his throne. His eyes met Liu's, his mouth curved into a grin.
