This is the 5th draft copy of my fun with portals story.

I have been working hard on this and here is what I have so far.

Fun with Portals�a5th revision. V.5

The Netherrealm was more chaotic then usual due to an oni invasion of Shinnok's tower. Scorpion just got back from an intense fight in the Chaosrealm when he heard some odd noises along with the voice of the Crimson Demon talking to what sounded like a female. Apparently her name was Chell according to the conversation. He went to go check it out and started to eavesdrop on the two.�a

"So yeah everything is going well Chell and I think I have finally gotten over the horrific experiments I was forced to undergo as a young human samurai. So what's been going on at the ol' enrichment center?"

"Well since GLaDOS has decided to behave herself ever since she discovered she was little Caroline. When I returned to the facility, things have pretty much returned to normal. All the scientists are back in control of the tests now just like the good old days with GLaDOS merely being an assistant to them."

"And how is Rat-Man doing?"

"He is still a nut job. But he finally refilled his prescriptions, but his companion cube won't let him take them."

"Seriously, he still thinks that inanimate cube is speaking to him?"

"Yes but he seems to get brilliant ideas from that cube that really helps lots of people with their problems, so I guess this more of a benefit rather than a handicap. GLaDOS wanted me to thank you for participating in this Aperture Science computer aided enrichment activity and hope you enjoy using the portal device."

"Thank you Chell, I really appreciate her saying that to me. However I will still drop by to visit everyone every now and then."

"No problem Crimson Demon, GLaDOS says you are always welcome at the enrichment center. Also don't forget the Aperture Science bring your kids to work day is the perfect time to have them tested. Anyway I have to go, the enrichment center has a new test subject and it is my turn to supervise the testing process. So bye bye." Chell said as she left the area.

"I should bring young Smoke N008 along to be tested too sometime in the future." the Crimson Demon thought.

"Did you get all that Scorpion?" the demon said to Scorpion's shock as a orange hole suddenly appeared under his feet. He immediately fell into it and�aout of a blue one near the top of a building near the Crimson Demon. Screaming as he fell, he landed on the demons blades, impaling his torso, writhing in agony. Soon he slid down the blades and the Crimson Demon tore him in half.

"You didn't think that I was unaware of you spying on me did you? I am the all seeing eye and plus you are so predictable too. Enjoy the FATALITY n00b!" said the Crimson Demon as he walked away!

"PW3ND!" said Shao Kahn.

The next day after fixing himself up from bring killed he started to search for an explanation for the weird orange and blue holes he fell through yesterday. Scorpion searched far and wide for the source of those portals but couldn't find a thing. Just as he was about to give up he heard the sounds the holes made when they appear coming from the city. He immediately rushed back to the city to find the source of the sounds.

When he got there he saw the Crimson Demon was playing around with a white gun like device making the same orange and blue holes in the ground and walls. Sometimes he would use these holes to teleport a cube shaped object with pink hearts on it around the city.

Scorpion was curious about it but also still angry at him for killing him the other day. He could tell the that the tarkatan samurai was enjoying himself. He knew that the Crimson Demon has a huge fascination with technology ever since his ordeal with the space pirates. Assuming that this was another one of the demon's inventions he went to investigate.

So he slowly approached him as quietly as possible, assuming that the Crimson Demon was too distracted to notice. But seconds later he was on the ground with the demon's blades pressed against his throat threatening to cut his head off like a pair of shears.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW!?!" the demon roared tightening the pressure of his blades further.

"I just wanted to know what that thing you were using was." the spectre said as he was gasping for air and blood ran down his neck.

"Oh this?" The Crimson Demon said as he cautiously loosened his grip on the spectre.�a

This is an Aperture Science Hand Held Portal Device. A portal gun if you will. The demon replied.

"Oh so that was the Portal Device that you and that lady Chell were talking about the other day." said Scorpion.�a

*CRASH!?!* the pink heart cube landed just inches from the ninja spectre causing him to jump in shock.�a

"The enrichment center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and in fact, cannot speak. In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the enrichment center advises you to disregard it's advice." the demon quoted in a computer voice.

"Correct, and with it I can make portals and mess around with stuff. Watch this!" The demon said as he fired an Orange portal on the ceiling directly above a city guard.

Then he fired a blue one under the guard's feet causing him to fall infinitely through the bottom one, out the top one and down through the bottom one again.�a

1 minute of falling the demon shot the Orange portal onto the wall causing the screaming guard to go flying out and go "SPLAT!" against the opposite wall splattering his body parts and blood everywhere."FATALITY!" The crimson demon, following his tarkatan instincts, ate the splattered gore to Scorpion's disgust.�a

Next he went outside and fired a orange portal on the floor next to a standing guard near the city walls. Then the other one under its feet. He flew up and fell down in one and out the other each time getting higher.

After he gained enough velocity to practically touch the sky, the demon moved the portal out from under him making him go "SPLAT!" on the floor."FATALITY" The tarkatan samurai ate those body parts too.�a

Scorpion being himself figured that he could use it to create new ways to brutalize and kill his enemies.�a

"Wow that is sweet, you think you could hook me up with one?" He asked.�a

The demon told him he has to qualify with it before he can have one.

"What do you mean by qualify?" Scorpion inquired.

"There is a training course that you have to complete in order to prove that you are competent when using it and it also teaches you how the device works in action. It is not that hard, in fact it is pretty fun to do. I certainly had a whole lot of fun doing this test."�a

So they both drove to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center and the demon helped Scorpion fill out the testing application forms and finally the consent and waiver release form.

Scorpion signed his signature on the document and then he preceded to the relaxation vault to wait his turn.�a

The vault rose up to test chamber 00. The head scientist Mike greeted him saying "Hello Scorpion, and welcome to the Aperture Science Computer Aided Enrichment Center. We hope your brief detention the relaxation vault has been a pleasant one. Your specimen has been processed and we are now ready to begin the test proper. My name is Mike and this is my associate Bob. We will be supervising your progress as you work your way through each test chamber."�a

Scorpion's first test was to get out the vault. To do so he tried to smash the glass only to find it was reenforced. So he used his spear to try to pull the door out but that was useless as well. After trying for 30 minutes to force his way out he decided there must be another way out. So he finally decided to stand on a huge red button in the vault that he never noticed during his rage. This caused a gray cube similar to the one he saw earlier come out of an orange hole exactly like the one he fell through the day before.

He took the cube off the button and the hole disappeared. So he figured it out and placed the cube onto the button and escaped through the hole and came out of the floor.

"Excellent! Feel free to explore each test chamber at least it can't hurt you too much" said Bob. After getting the portal device in test chamber 01 he was blasted by turrets at the end of the room.

Once he made it to test chamber 03, he noticed the floor was filled with acid.

"Please note that in this room we added a consequence for failure. Any contact with the chamber floor will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record followed by death." said Mike.

After solving this chamber he learned that any appearance of danger is merely a tool to enhance his testing experience. By the time he reached test chamber 04 he got the dual portal device and found out that he had to learn about how it works without any hints and do it alone.

As Scorpion makes his through the test chambers the Crimson Demon was observing him along with Mike and Bob. However this makes the demon bored so he starts to torment the spectre with false clues as he uses the portal device to navigate the 9th test chamber. When both scientists leave to get some more coffee, using just his laptop, the demon hacks into the test chamber controls and starts to play with the walls in the room. He starts to move the top wall panel forward.

The tarkatan samurai started to laugh as Scorpion tried to use the moved wall panel to reach the top of the chamber with no success. Finally he manages to reach the top and uses the elevator to go on to the next room. The Scientists return and observe the subject using his spear to tear apart some turrets that were blocking the way.

"Excellent, proceed to the next room." Mike said.

"I trust my little joke was not a problem." the demon said.

"What are you talking about?" said Bob.

"I am talking about the wall I moved in the test chamber. It was totally useless but he still tried to use it." he responded.

"THAT IS NOT FUNNY! This whole test is supposed to be serious!" yelled Mike who was peeved.

Once Scorpion reached test chamber 05 the Crimson Demon told both Mike and Bob he was going somewhere for a few minutes. A place that he said they don't need to know. A few minutes later the alarms went off blaring through out the facility as siren lights flashed. Suddenly all the doors were automatically closed and locked. In the test chamber metal slots with red "!" marks pop out of the walls and displayed a red glow. Ruby red laser beams then came out of them blocking the chamber lock and trapping Scorpion in the test chamber.

"ALERT CODE RED! HOSTILE ACTIVITY DETECTED IN SECTOR 6! INITIATING SECURITY LOCKDOWN!" the automated speaker system said. Computer screens all over the place said "SECURITY BREACH!" in red lettering.

As Scorpion approached the laser field he could feel intense heat radiating from the beams. This got hotter as he got closer and when he finally touched the beams they burned him with a temperature so hot the it caused him to scream in pain and back away. The laser field was hotter then any hellfire he had ever experienced.

"HEY! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON UP THERE!?!" Scorpion yelled over the alarms. "WHAT IS THIS RED BARRIER DOING HERE!?!" he added while looking at the small burn he got from the beams.

"It appears that someone or something is running amuck in sector 6 of the enrichment center." said Mike.

"and I have a pretty good idea who it is." said Bob suspiciously. "Also that red laser field you just touched is an aperture science thermal discouragement beam field. It is used as a testing element and as a security system. It is designed to burn anyone who attempts to pass thorough it. It was activated because of the lockdown to contain any intruders in the testing area." he added

Suddenly the alarm stopped and the doors reopened. The laser field disappeared and the emitters retracted into the walls.

"ABORT CODE ACCEPTED, SECURITY LOCKDOWN RELEASED." said the speaker system.

"Stupid security system, had to override another false alarm!" said a frustrated and now fresh gore covered Crimson Demon.

"Maybe if you don't eat the employees for once, maybe these "false alarms" will stop." said Chell over the intercom.

"and now that that's over let's get back to testing." said Mike.

In test chamber 10; the Crimson Demon justified his antics in chamber 09 by telling Mike that this can be used to test numerous parts of the subjects personality and how well he can improvise with the portal device on the spur of the moment. Mike agreed and decided to join Bob and the demon in "tampering" with the test chambers. So when Scorpion tried to reach the door, the stairs retracted into the floor causing him to fall. Then a spiked crusher flattened him into a bloody mess. On his second attempt, he used the portals to teleport into the next room past the stairs.

"Excellent! Now you are thinking with portals!" the demon said.

"All right, walls activated. Good luck." Mike said as he triggered the ceiling to lower to the floor.

Scorpion immediately fired a portal on the ceiling on the other side of the acid pit in front of him, another at the wall just above the acid, took a running jump, and successfully made it to the other side just as the ceiling was inches from his head.

The 11th and 12th test chambers were hard enough for him so the observers decided to not mess with them. The biggest problem in test chamber 12 was using portals to guide dangerous energy balls to their targets. He came in contact with them numerous times and as a result sustained permanent injuries such as vaporization causing him to respawn at the start of the test chamber. Test chamber 11 gave him vertigo due to it's constantly shifting gravity fields.

"Honestly he is doing very well considering the fact it took him 30 minutes to figure out how to get out of the relaxation vault in test chamber zero." said Bob.

"Yes and he is making very good use of the fact that momentum is conserved between portals unlike most test subjects who don't figure that out until chamber number 5." said Mike.

"That is because I showed him how it works before he started the test." the Crimson Demon explained.

Now Scorpion made it through the 13th test chamber. As the elevator moved he is warned that the next room is... well... tricky. He noticed that the walls have large, solid metal plates that flash bright blue every 2 seconds with the crackling of electricity and lighting passing in between them. This makes the narrow bridge across the acid pit impossible to cross, and there is no way around it as it covers the whole bridge and the walls and ceiling are portal shielded.

"Please note that this part of the test involves exposure to uninsulated electrical parts which in some cases may be dangerous. For more information please attend an Aperture Science electrical safety seminar." GLaDOS added.

Epilogue: Once Scorpion was finished with the testing and now had a portal gun too, he modified the device so it was concealed in his hand and functioned a little differently then normal. When it came time to fight in a tournament he used it in one of his fatalities. He called it the Nether-Gate.�a

Chell, Rat-Man, and his companion cube were all watching in the stands. Shao Kahn was wondering why all these talking spheres were with me at the foot of his throne. He said that Wheatley one officially sucks along with the GLaDOS one too.�a

END OF TL,DR.

I am considering changing the title of this story to something more updated. Some of the titles I am considering are:

Portal Kombat.
Scorpion goes to Aperture Science.
Scorpion goes to the Enrichment Center.
Aperture Laboratories Test Subject: Scorpion.
Scorpion thinks with portals.
Thinking with portals.

Do you think I should change the title or have any suggestions for one, or anything to say?
