Save it, than play it with WIndows Media Player, then go File> Save As> Save. It becomes a WMP file, which can be uploaded.

What software are you using to make this vid?
Regardless of what software it is, when saving, any vid software worth its salt should offer you a load of different file formats to save in.
WMV's ok for compression & quality; i'd use either avi, mov, mpeg and wmv cuz they're some of the common ones on the net.

Okay, just looked up the help files.
In Windows Movie Maker, when saving your movie, click on file and select "Save Movie File".
It sounds like you were using save project as, which is fine to save the project file with all the bits and sounds you imported, however, you want to upload an actual video file not a project file.
"Save Movie File" (or Ctrl+P) allows you to choose a file type.
Look it up in the help if you're stuck it's under "Save Movie Wizard".
