I've been kicking around this idea for a while,
its non-canon of course.
After his defeat at the hands of Liu Kang, Shao Khan devises a plan to create a son who would be powerful beyond belief and when the time is right, unleash him on anyone who dare oppose him.
So Shao Khan enlists the help of Shang Tsung to kidnap a suitable candidate for a surrogate mother from another realm, and take her to a secret ancient pocket universe that exists between the Netherrealm and Outworld realms.
There, Khan demands the assistance of an ancient being, half sorcerer, half pure dark energy. The powerful ancient infuses Khan's unborn child with untold mystical powers.
9 months later, the surrogate gives birth to the child who is immediately aged to 25 using black magic.
With a childlike mind, but brutish strength and devastating mystical power, Khan's son quickly becomes a vicious adversary who is both merciless and unpredictable.
As his powers grow exponentially, the Earthrealm warriors are running out of time, unless they find and cut off his source of power, Khan's son will soon become invincible, allowing Khan and his son to rule every realm like a tyrant over his empire.
