Can I do this in PSP?

Say I have two images indenticle except for the background. For example, a red ball on a yellow background and a red ball on a blue background. Is there a way to isloate the red ball? I hear Adobe Photoshop can do that

There should be a magic wand symbol that can do that for you unless its another program.
