Showitious is an obsessive condition originally named by Fanfictiondreamer, before she became woke, in which I can relate to, as someone who has an ongoing obsession/attachment with fictional characters. Since they're both autistics, these characters are hardly not chosen by the person attached to them, oftentimes they are whether an extreme like/hate, and can sometimes be unknown as to why that person is overwhelmed as a result. There is rarely a direct way as to identify which character they would become obsessed with but depending on the person, usually who has autism, they will be able to figure out what kind of character that person could be. They can be either male or female characters categorized as serious, cool, cute, evil, a woobie, etc. A few could be wise people who fall under the category of being wise beyond their years. Or being a hurt hero or simply having sympathy to an unfortunate woobie helpless by circumstance, or just plain evil relating to stressful situations. These triggers could also have something that greatly reminds the sufferers of one other character that he/she knows and often can't let go of. Sometimes it'd be considered as suffering from PTSD or anxiety. Regardless, Showitious can be predictable if the person affected by it is able to figure out the patterns, or the characters or situations can take them by surprise if they could not find any reason to see it coming.
Sometimes, either FFD or Ikran would come up with particular ideas for their stories as a way of coping with this and try to reduce stress to where it's not too severe for them to live with. Such ideas involve pairing a male character on the list with one or more female characters (the latter with FFD) or just creating a situation involving them. Or, in Ikran's case, can be used for ideas in her own countdowns. This has helped them at times, but some days can be harder to deal with than others. Their most recent attempts to deal with one of those characters was to come up with a fanfic, Journal, or countdown, for a game, movie or other media that he/she is in with him/her being the only reason why they came up with this said work.
To FFD she was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at a young age, and the cause is unknown as to why a select handful of characters from shows and games are involved, of their minds always being elsewhere.
Ikran has dealt with her own Showitious as well! Like FFD, Ikran can relate to this condition as an obsession of her favorite characters, those she disdains, and favorite media; shows, games, music, celebrities/YouTubers, etc. Ikran has dealt with the same thing since she was a kid. She can't recall exactly what her first experience was, but her fascination would happen randomly, though they'd have the usual triggers, even when she sees or hears them, and they become entrapped in her mind. Every time she does, it's like she has been caught in between both fantasy and reality clashing each other! Sometimes they'd seem so severe, that they'd interfere and cause more mental stress and fatigue. Often times, the only (negative) solution was to eliminate the things cold turkey even though she still likes these, as it made these stressors worse than better. It was as if her mind was her best friend, and her worst enemy.
It seems like some sort of stress disorder, and she can't find a way to cope with them well. Her fantasies won't help as long as she keeps them building up in her mind like a volcano; they need to go somewhere to relieve the pressure. So, she pretty much was stuck in between, and her favorite characters, movies, games, and other media were like her only comfort... Of course, she didn't want herself to go crazy, so she needed an outlet. Thus, finding an outlet for her multiple work: art, writing, journals, countdowns, etc.
Sometimes it can also be a coping mechanism for her anxieties of loss she endured in the past; ever since she was 14, her stepmom at the time suppressed her and her interests, to the point of intense scrutiny, disallowing her to be invested in them or even catch up on them. Her bucket lists have been enormous, and she wishes to catch up from all the sacrifices she endured, although sadly not every loss can be replaceable... Some of her OCs are based on her grave losses whether it'd be a parent or their own hobbies, to the point on living on their own.
A list of Ikran's characters involved in her own Showitious, good or bad, can be found in a category on the Fan Fiction wiki.
Showitious can just be hyperfixation and intrusive thoughts.
The closest thing that can describe Showitious well is hyperfixation, which states it's an obsessive condition (usually linked with autism and anxiety disorders such as OCD/depression, schizophrenia, etc.) It's summarized as when someone's completely engrossed by something, to the point where it becomes all-consuming and disrupts his/her day-to-day functioning. It gets hard to focus on anything other than the object of his/her hyperfixation. People can become hyperfixated on a hobby, interest, person, place, etc. The timeline for hyperfixation can also vary. Some people will hyperfixate on one thing for months at a time, while other hyperfixation episodes may last just a few days. They might also pick up an interest really quickly and then drop it just as suddenly after some time. People often lose track of time or feel like time is passing very quickly, tune out other things happening around you, forget to do necessary things like eating or sleeping, feel unable to control your actions related to your interest, and become less self-aware and socially aware. Much like how Showitious entails and affects others.
It too can be about random, intrusive thoughts. They don't promote any harm, but they're mostly done with anxiety, depression, and triggers. It can mostly be good or mostly bad moments/characters. It's stated that it's not entirely autism related as it's commonly linked with other mental deficits and stressors Ikran has.
This article should explain it all.
It can also be associated with intrusive thoughts.

If you want to know more about this unique condition, and other characters who make me hyperfixated, feel free to check out the term. It shall be labeled as Characters involved in Ikran's Showitious. I wouldn't want you to look up the term from Fanfictiondreamer's entries, since she's one of my enemies, and she's not into Mortal Kombat at all.

I'm not sure where to put this, but I guess I'll put them here. Even my countdowns have been a part of my Showitious too, much like my fics. I'd be obsessive, or the thoughts'd be intrusive, on what character/idea it'd be; with negative responses, they're even worse! I called them my Countdowns of Catharsis for several reasons, and ever since I'd done my Doppelgangers list, MK shall be included at times; I think around 80%. Not just on countdowns, but there'd be some other projects such as my Retrospective, my Defenders of the Realm episodes ranked, my podfics, a meme here and there, etc. There's too many to list off, and I don't want to reveal any spoilers, but my countdowns and other vids do feature Mortal Kombat.

My enemy, Fanfictiondreamer, called it Showitious, but I knew from the beginning it was hyperfixation with intrusive thoughts; as I've both autism & OCD, which is what this page entails. I have these symptoms including being engrossed in something, disorientation & fatigue afterwards, hyperfocus even on my hobbies, consumption of time & energy, and sticking to these things like glue, even needing a creative outlet. I hope others can relate to this...

This happened on March 12, 2022, but this was the basis of my fanfic series!
I woke up with morning depression around 6:30am. Then I thought of Kung Lao leaving the White Lotus Society since he’d nightmares from Kronika, visions of being a revenant & having the world destroyed by Blaze was too much! I felt upset, as he wanted to kill himself. I hated what MK became!!
He decided to give the mantle to his nephew, Kung Jin. He knew more men than women anyway, so he didn’t mind Jin’s desires in homosexuality; he even heard Raiden’s words that the Lotus Society shall accept him in their ranks, no matter what. But unfortunately, Kung Lao died anyway, Jin thought he did it to himself since he remorsed never being there for him, but it was Kronika instead.
I understand why Kronika was added; the creators made a monster! Doesn’t matter if it was Blaze’s destruction, or revenants. I still think any convoluted, even time-travel, franchise is unfixable.
Pathos can really work against you, not just urge you to fix what’s been broken, thus my urge on writing fanfiction.

As was this post on March 20th, 2022.
Sometimes I wonder about Kung Lao’s ancestor... I found 1 fic in which Great Kung Lao and his descendant lost to Goro deliberately and had their souls imprisoned by Shang, since once they become Champion, they’re cursed to live forever... I wonder if they HAVE, or at least Liu Kang, had been thru it...
Like, the Great Kung Lao lost his friends after they died, after he won the very 1st tournament, then he fell to Goro and had his soul imprisoned by Shang Tsung. 500 years later, Liu Kang won the 1st tournament, relieving Outworld to never take over Earthrealm after losing the 10-tournament streak. However, both he and sometimes Kung Lao would suffer from that same fate since they’re both top tier fighters and the descendants.
Actually...I think I might have come up with a proper solution, about the Mortal Kombat champion being eternally cursed. First off, they need to die by someone else; they can’t do it themselves otherwise the soul winds up in the Nether Realm AKA Hell. Second, the one that is eternally cursed should take one for the team if there happens to be another tournament, or in this case an invasion, while his or her allies rescue them in like a soul chamber for example. If that’s the case in Shaolin Monks, if Kung Lao and Liu Kang won, then one should take for the team. If Fire and Ice were to take the events of Mortal Kombat 3 then Kung Lao should have his soul sacrificed first to break the eternal curse. And perhaps have Raiden treat his wounds but he would probably die later on as Liu Kang faces Shao Kahn. By the time he defeats him, Kung’s soul would be restored, and the curse would be broken over him. And if Armageddon should come around, Liu King shall be the Fire and Thunder God, merged with Raiden, to defeat Blaze!! Oh, and if the Deadly Alliance try to kill him, he would at least be severely injured while Kung Lao takes over; he is more than capable since he was able to take out Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in 9, even though there wouldn’t be a reboot this time.

Lord Liu Kang Hyperfixation
At first when I first saw Liu'ss ascension in MK11 as well as Kronika... I never cared all that much... MK9 and X shunned me out, TWICE!!, but it wasn't until that Shaolin Monks brought me back one week before the live-action movie was released in 2021... I was reluctant on giving MK11 a chance, till I randomly stumbled upon Uncaged's LP around 2022. It was indeed a rollercoaster ride, but once I saw the last chapter featuring Lord Liu Kang, at The End of an Era, and once he'd decimated Shinnok's mom and became Keeper of Time in the perfect ending, he along with Kitana had been living in my head rent free!
Not just their amazing character designs that MK11 has done outstandingly well, but mostly their roles! Even replacing the previous VAs was a splendid idea; I despised most of the cast, with Raiden and Kung Lao as exceptions... Matthew Yang King is the ideal VA for both Liu Kang and Fujin! But it's mostly about the former.
He was in my roleplays, both in the Unaliving War, and soon the alt rp feat Caro's Baby Journal, the new couple before Kung Lao tied the knot despite the latter from MK 2023. I was hyperfixated with Lord Liu Kang since those epic moments in 2022! So much so he's been featured in several projects, including a countdown or 2 and my Khronology once I've written Final Kombat! I don't want to spoil too much, but he's been playing the chess master eventually replacing the og and Raiden, and a few countdowns summarizing his amazing abilities and roles! Whether with Titaness Kitana or not.
Since then, he's been in several other projects and more frequently! Whether it'd be Kontentment, Koherence, the Side Stories, the wedding of Lao and Aiko, more in Caro's Baby Journal, establishing his new settlement at Yin Yang Island, bearing a son, rescuing capybaras, making some time travel trips and find the Bird-Men and recruit them for Edenia, having Liu tie the knot with Kitana, training the og red dragon! The list goes on! While he's in the grey area, with the Revenant self and Dominic's version are exceptions, it often leans toward MK11! His skills in combat, his persona, his perfect ending, his incredible role as the new Keeper of Time while carrying Raiden's redemption, his Exalted One outfit was just chef's kiss! As was the wasted plotential featured in Aftermath while training the Great Kung Lao.
I've been caring so deeply for him, that could even rival Kung Lao himself! Much as Logan having Scizor as his favorite Pokémon then Darkrai taking over! Who knows, maybe I'll do the same if I should make a favorite Kombatants list in the future...
But... There were more triggers later on. Matt's wife passed away on January 2026, and ever since that poltergeist incident on the 31st, I often thought it was her. Heck, I even took a gamble and saw parts of the miniseries of Inside Out, with Matt as Sheng, which.... seemed unnoticeable and weak. On top of that, as I'm working, I've a part-time job which shall be classified, I often hear a commercial on the radio mentioning a meditation/deep breath break where 2 gongs sound off, which was a trigger making me think of Lord Liu Kang which gives me a lil comfort/confidence.
No wonder I'd chosen several theme songs for him and for Liutana at times: Too Much Time on my Hands by Styx, Love is Blue by Paul Mauriat, Fifi's Theme remade by MajorLink, If You Know Time by Robyn Hitchcock, Love is All by Marc Anthony, Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen, Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce, maybe a tribal theme here and there like I do with Jin, Lao and Oozaru. He often does give me confidence, sometimes encouragement, and other times...intimidation like how he countered Kronika's endless wars. I wouldn't even mind the random lemon fics I've found on Archives of our Own or on Fanfiction, especially with Timeless Honeymoon! Like I said on my MK 2023 rant, I'd rather witness Liutana making love at the dawn of time rather than be immersed in the AI atrocity!
On top of that, my hyper fixation was on full blast once AwesomeCageProductions released his new series, the Wrath of the Fire God! In it, Lord Liu Kang had absorbed Raiden's dark side, during its own Armageddon in the prequel. I grew anxious as Fujin dreaded what can happen to him if he would succumb to that same dark prowess.... He was training with him, keeping it under control, yet still a beast can't stay tame forever as warned by Wolverine in X3 and I've always despised the Dark Phoenix saga. Even when Giovanni was misusing Mewtwo hence his own wrath! I feel Fujin has been suppressing his urges too much; they missed Jin's ceremony, Kitana's still in Outworld assisting her family, the Lin Kuei's in a civil war as evil alliances arise with the cyber initiative, the Black Dragon, and the Kahn loyalists! Even missing Jin's ceremony as the Fangzhang... Especially since Bo' was there.
I always wanted Aiko to be involved, interpreting the recent vision Lord Liu Kang had; with Reiko leading the charge, Outworld falling, devastating fire everywhere, the Cages' demise... And he's being held back by Fujin! Haven't we forgotten what happend with the Great Kung Lao after he became Earthrealm's 1st Champion with his sporadic visons?? I always wanted her to put the pieces together: to head to Outworld with Jin and Kabal, destroy Nitara then head to the Lava Shrine and shatter the orb thus separating Vaeternus from the realm and just cut down their numbers! After all, Jin already defeated Goro and then Reiko with Kabal's help. I feel that Lord Liu Kang must've outlets, to be involved in wrecking Outworld's entirety! As a trick to lure in the enemies and evacuate the innocent, fooling them they've won and wander into his trap! Since Earthrealm was once devastated by Shinnok and the Saurians evacuated to Zaterra in the realm's total demise during the prehistoric age! But after that...
Idk how Geras'd be included, but I was talking with Grok of a possible scenario in which Lord Liu Kang not only annihilates Outworld but succumbs to grave weakness as well... Losing his vitality, some of his mortality to the point to demigod. Kitana may nurse him back to health, as would my OC if she'd be in it... She may develop deep feelings for him since Kitana'd be in Outworld restoring rule or whatever else with her family; hopefully Edenia'dd be restored without the foreboding frontier and Kahn out of the picture, along with Onaga, maybe Shinnok making his move... And since Aiko won't have Kung Lao as he perished in Armageddon...
Regardless, Grok soothed me as she helped me develop a scenario in which while Aiko understood Liu's predicaments and analyzing them, they created a deep bond too. With my "Showitious," he and his trauma never left my mind, always dreading but hoping for the best... I never wanted him to make the same atrocious decisions as Raiden did... After all, it happened twice when Aiko was a very close companion to him, Revenant and cloned respectively... I even created a separate article for him alone whereas the MK wiki didn't.
But since 2022, when I first experienced Liu's ascension, I felt no one else would be the new defender of Earthrealm. It was a prayer fulfilled as MK9 hinted this in Liu's ending while killing off Raiden, having the Gods fuse with him in DC Universe after shouting "Mortal Kombat!," even in his ladder ending in MK Armageddon after Blaze restored him from his zombie self. Hell, I wished for this in the Injustice games or why had it not happened as soon as intended. I know there's the pessimism on Liu losing himself and be corrupted, I felt that when Dominic's failed experiment was coming, but darkness isn't always the thing that's evil, it's how you use that! And he needs outlets, so why not take advantage despite the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde scenario I've dreaded since he merged with Dark Raiden or with his Revenant counterpart. I even hope to remake my Couples list for Liutana...
I care about Lord Liu Kang, and his future, always so damned much...
