1: Don't know what you mean by "the colored thingy." What colored thingy, and what kind of sprite?
2: To make an animation, you need to buy a program. What kind of animation do you want to make? If you want to make Flash animations, hope you got plenty of cash, because it costs several hundred dollars, though you can also download a free 30-day trial. (Note, however, that Flash is fairly hard to use, so it might take a while to learn how to use it.) If you want to make gifs, those programs are a lot cheaper, maybe $10-20. Do a google search for "gif animator." Some might give you a free trial (either by a given number of days or uses).
