Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Konquest
Some of you may know that I've been working on a project in creating my own Mortal Kombat adventure game using the Tomb Raider Level Editor, a tool given to the fans by the now disbanded developers of the first six Tomb Raider games, so that the fans could create their own adventures and distribute them online for others to enjoy. Since it's release in 2000, the Level Editor has seen the release of hundreds of thousands of projects.
My project, which was originally going to be a Sonya Blade adventure game has now become a Lara Croft adventure where she will journey through the MK universe in search of the Kamidogu.
This game uses the classic Tomb Raider engine so anyone who has played the first five games should know how it works.
As this is an ambitious project in early development, no release date has been decided yet but I'll keep this thread updated.

The Hall Of The Elder Gods Test
Part Duex
Story:
My name is Lara Croft, and I collect old things. While hunting an ornate dagger in China, I heard many legends and tales of a great talisman of power, reputed to have been created by the Elder Gods as a means of opening a portal to other worlds. This artefact, known as the Kamidogu was hidden away in a temple deep in the Himalayan mountains to keep it safe. Dizzying heights, storming winds, savage blizzards. Sounds dangerous. Sounds like fun, wouldn't you agree?
After my battle with Marco Bortoli, I met two Shaolin monks who nursed me back to health. They shared with me their knowledge of the Elder Gods and of a great tournament devised by them to keep the Earth safe known as Mortal Kombat. I've seen enough strange things in my life to question their sanity, and after all, archeaology is half metaphore. They insisted that I left the Kamidogu lie, as it's power was unimaginable. If I had a coconut for everytime some lunatic said something like that. My interest peaked, I began to pack for the Himalays as soon as I returned home, after 'borrowing' an ancient map from the monks of course. But it seems I'm not the only one who has been hunting the Kamidogu. Well, let's see who can get there first...
Level List:
Croft Manor (Training) - 25% Completed
Lara's home, this is where she will hone her skills, learn new ones and research the Kamidogu and it's mysterious powers.
The Archeaological Dig - 10% Completed
Lara must make her way to the Elder God's Hall, in the Himalayan mountains, but a team of mercenaries have been trying to get to it for some time. Will Lara's special talents help her gain entry to where others have only dreamed of?
The Hall Of The Elder Gods - 45% Completed
Once inside the Hall, things are about the get strange. Even for Lara's standards. The Elder God's Hall is a sacred place, those who are not worthy to witness the God's themselves will surely meet their fate.
The Nexus - 10% Completed
A nuetral plain between worlds, entry to the Nexus requires posession of the Kamidogu. Once there, Lara will be able to leave Earthrealm and explore new worlds.
The Netherrealm - 5% Completed
A dark and evil realm, inhabited by lost souls and demons. Oceans of lava, undead warriors and plenty of dark, obscure pleasantries await Ms. Croft. No problem.
Shinnok's Spire - 5% Completed
Shinnok was once an Elder God, until he turned his back on them and abused his power. As punishment, he was banished to the bowels of the Netherrealm. However, Shinnok has managed to gain quite a sizeable amount of power while there, and has constructed an mammoth spire in which to reside, filled with his own dark magic and ruthless warriors. All in a day's work for Lara.

New Moves
Stealth - Lara can now creep by her enemies to avoid conflict.
Commando Crawl - Lara can now get even lower which can come in useful when hiding from enemies or for squeezing into those really tight gaps.
Sprint Jump - While sprinting Lara can jump even further to get across those really big leaps.
More to come.
Enemies
Enemies are smarter than ever before, some are even as agile as Lara and can use her own moves as a means as hunting her down such as monkey swinging, ledge climbing and long jumping. Some cannot be destroyed with bullets and new ways to kill must be discovered. Battle with classic Mortal Kombat characters or befriend some. And watch out for the Oni, they are dangerous.
Graphics
The game engine I am using was created in 1995 and I'm using a version that was updated in 1999 by Core Design and then continuously tweaked by fans to push it as far as possible. Lara herself will have the same kind of quality expected from a PS2 game, her enviorments, from a DC game.
Music
I'll be using a mixture of Tomb Raider and Mortal Kombat tracks for this game, as well as hybrids of the two to blend the two worlds together.
This project is still in early development. Don't expect it out before MKvsDC or even Tomb Raider Underworld.

Hah, lovin your work!
Didn't even know there was a tomb raider level editor.

Cool stuff, can't wait to see more!

Wow, this stuff looks pretty cool, btw, on the not so formal side
does that river thing have piranhas in it? because the path she was on seemed slanted, and i figured it would be cool if after she died she would slide down and have the piranhas rip her to shreds, or if she went downstream, to a waterfall, into some sort of lake, and then her blood would start a feeding frenzy.
but anyways.... i look forward to seeing this when it (figuratively) hits the shelves.

About hand to hand combat. It's not going to happen. Not in-game anyway, there's no way around it. The TR engine just wasn't built for hand to hand fighting, so all enemies will need to be shot dead. On the bright side, you get to pump the MK characters full of bullets?
I'm working on creating cutscenes to expand the plot and just for something nice to look at as a break from the game every now and then, so some hand to hand combat might go in there, but of course it will all be pre-animated and just for show. If I do go down that route I'll definitely be animating characters signature moves for the scenes. I might even give Lara some bad-ass moves.
I'm sure Lara could more than hold her own in a fight.

This could be good. Keep up the good work. I'm still waiting for the day somebody makes an actual 3D MK game, you guys are on your way. I'll keep checking on this

Croft Manor bugged out on me, and I lost over half of it! What was a 70% finished level has now became 20%. And that 20% is very buggy. Grr! I'm going to have to leave it until last.

I've tried using MK4strip to get ahold of the 3d models, but can't seem to get them. I do have the texture maps which I definitely plan on using so I may have to recreate the characters myself. Although even if I did have the 3d .obj files, I'd probably have to make them myself anyway to fit in with animations. I'm glad you like it!
OH-MY-GOD!
Keith, you are seriously a genius!
This project looks amazing! Its an extremely fun and awesome idea, and the work you’ve putted into this project truly shows how dedicated and talented you are.
Im mostly impressed with the “building the world” pic, its just unbelievable all the hard work and attention this sort of things require.
So far, it looks outstanding, and I do hope you finish this game for us to play.
I cant wait to see more! Awesome! (I love the new Lara croft in-game model you are using by the way, she looks excellent!)

Thank you! That's really nice of you to say you. I have every intention of finishing this project, it's just going to take some time.
Anyway, here's some more info:
Controls
Lara's controls have been updated for more comfort and ease. The puzzles might be difficult but moving Lara around the enviorment won't be.
Lara shimmeys across ledges at a much faster rate. In the original games, Lara would slowly traverse across ledges very slowly which was quite frustrating, she now swings across and climbs much more fluidly and faster.
Players also don't have to turn Lara right around and carefully bak her out of a crawlspace, she now has the option of flipping out of it forwards, for those players with less patience, however, this can be dangerous if the fall is too great.
The ledge mechanics from Legend/Anniversary have been implemented into this game - while hanging from a ledge, Lara can use her legs and momentum to leap up and grab a ledge overhead, when available. Also, when climbing a wall, or structure, Lara can leap up and grab hold of monkey bars, if available.
Secrets
A bonus level is included in the game, but it's only available to those who hunt down all the secret items hidden in the game. These items are all MK related, like in MKA's Konquest. You might come across Raiden's staff, Kira's knife, Ashrah's Voodoo Doll, etc. Once all have been found, a bonus level will be available, but that's a secret.

Wow! you are gifted and i am not even joking. Will we be seeing any mk stages in the game and when is an estimate of when this is going to come out.Of course! But I'm keeping them under wraps for now. But you can expect to see the standards.

There's no estimated release for the final build but I do hope to get a demo out sometime late this year or early next year.
As for stages, I don't want to ruin the surprise but there will be recognisable stages. Some of them are obvious (Elder God Hall, Shinnok's Spire) but just think of the locations in the game (Himalayas, Nexus, Netherrealm) and think of what stages would or should appear there and chances are, they probably will show up.

Tomb Raider Konquest has its own website now, which will be updated every so often with new video footage and screenshots and information. It's quite bare at the moment but it will expand in time. There is a new trailer on the site however:
