The sketch is excellent. I really like his expression.

The coloring really needs some work, not that it's bad, it's just very plain. If you look in the art links thread at the top of ths forum I've got a link to FARP. They have some really good tutorials on coloring in photoshop.

Still, great job

no problem gororules

thanks marcel.

rameir yes i;ve been to that site.

i see nothing wrong with my style of coloring, that site shows you how to color like a japanese artwork or anime.

well i have my own style which i like,
in the goro picture theres 4 layers to the skin coloring.

why do u think its plain?? theres lights and darks with shadows? what else can i do, other than anime coloring?

Aha, I gotcha. Well that's my bad then. My preference always swings more toward realism. Minimalism is good in it's own right. I did say 'it was good coloring' but I should have followed up with 'I prefer blah blah blah'.

Let's just look at the skin. To me I see a brown base, a large darker shadow area and lighter tinted spots. The colors are good choices but to me the detail isn't there. Light would hit his muscles (as big as they are) and cast much more defined shaded areas. Between his bicep and tricep area would be a darker ridge followed by a lighter area on the other side. I guess that's my biggest beef, the big sweeping shades that cover large areas and show no defined areas in the drawing underneath. Switcher used to do that and it drove me nuts.

I dunno, I think I probably would've ended up with about 12-20 layers for the whole thing. I keep separate areas away from each other when I work. Keeps you from having to worry about painting over the wrong spot. The hair looks good, hair always has more specularity to it but your drawing underneath does a good job in that.

Well I guess if I could sum up, the drawing shows great detail, the shading doesn't and the two seem to offset each other in my eye.

Like you said, that's the way you like it so stick with it.

I remember more than Anime inspired tutorials on there but whatever. Check out Ursela's, I wish I could work to that caliber, but I'm not there yet.

Take it easy

rameir-

thanks for the comments and tips.

they will help out alot in the future.
about the shading,

i'm really good at shading on pencil drawigns but still learning on photoshop.

i used 4 layers for the skin and proby 12 layers total for the entire picture
i always use lots of layers that way if you fuck up you can just make a new layer and not have to start all over agian,

thanks agian

good goro. i actually like the way it is coloured, it reminds my of the way they handled the colour in the MK comics....bright vital colors and just enough shade the round it out a little. good work on the anatomy, the extra two arms look naturally joined to the body, rather that just two extra arms. 5/5

Nice drawing, a few suggestions however. I'd make him a bit more muscley and threataning, or atleast wider. I also suggest the skin color be changed to it's usual, however, originality is good. I'd just try to do it another way.

Hmmmm... This one is pretty good. The only thing wrong with it is: Goro. Your art is awesome, I just don't like the character :D

Your face needs a little work on him, maybe get the eyes alined and give his face a more evil and fierce look. The body color is a little too light I think, possibly make it a little darker.

If I am not right then please correct me on this: Doesn't Goro have spots on his body? If not, then just the back? If so then there is something you left out.

Now, the last problem is this: When you put the font "Goro" it got on his body some, now we can't see his feet.(not REALLY important, but a good thing to remember for future art and presentations).

I gave you 4/5, good job.

Nice one!! IMO if he were battle scarred or looked like he just finished fighting (you know tattered and bloody) he'd look more like himself a Warrior Prince.
