I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see something like this return. Judging from color's alone, they seem to be going a more colorful route with MK11 that lines up a bit more with MK9 and given that were past the 25th anniversary of the series, I suspect they will be pulling out all the stops this time around and really hitting on some nostalgic feelings.

I hope they end with a kill like Kitana giving you a cake but it blows them up

Back in the '90s I remember reading a fan-project called "MK: Bloodlines" (or something like this) and the very '90s-esque name they gave to this Finished was "Friendship... NOT!" It basically worked just like that - Kitana baked you a cake, but it would poison you. Baraka would give you a present, but it would explode. Scorpion would give you a doll, but it would then Toasty you. Basically all the classic Friendships but with a twist ending.

Would something like this ever actually happen for real, with MK11? God, I hope so!

My favorite thing about friendships was the way the announcer would say it, lol, it was short but really gave the impression of "Wtf is going on!?"

I hope they make a comeback. It'd be a nice addition to online play, making friendly matches seem that much friendlier. Hara-Kiris might not be a bad idea, either. Could limit post-match teabagging (as lovely as it can be to return the favor in excess during a runback), decreasing the number of rage quits from opponents, which, along with disconnects, were one of the more annoying aspects of online play. Basically, Hara-Kiris would increase the popularity of the MK11 because newbies would have the option to completely abstain from any unnecessary taunting after a match is lost should they be able to input the button sequence in time.

This really is the best possible outcome, should they bring them back.

I would be so happy if they brought friendship back! They aren't going to do it though. There's no way.
