seeing how boon and co. have been trying so very hard to make their most recent fighters viable it just seems inevitable.here are a few reasons i think this will happen...

1.a majority of them happen at the end of combos or in a situation where pro gamers have an easier time setting up than casual gamers will and feels pretty fluid even if they happen unexpectedly.

2.most of the brutalities simply look better than alot of the fatalities right now.

3.even with new technology,NRS look like they're running out of ideas for fatalities and the wow factor of them wears off alot faster than before.

4.the hardcore fan base is a small part of the mk community right now and pleasing them becomes less and less important.the casual gamers with short attention spans are the ones buying this game now and they want new and shiny things not a rehash of old games.they just take turns trying to see who can be the whiniest and bitchiest

I know you're trolling, but even that doesn't make you less of an idiot for thinking that there will ever be a Mortal Kombat game without fatalities.
Replacing them would be going too far.

Instead they can focus on one great Fatality and then other finishers like Brutalities/Stage/whatever later. Most Characters only ever have one really good one anyway.

im seriously not trolling.its just my opinion but carry on with your insults.
i am looking for different opinions of why and why not.

anyway i just think this is what'll happen since they catering to the pro gamer crowd since mk9.they have so much input on how the game plays,im sure atleast one of them mentioned it to one of them at nrs

You're aware that without fatalities, it's not Mortal Kombat, right? The franchise owes its entire success to fatalities.

true but we're in a different time than when the original mk came out.it's not something im ok with at all.i used to get in arguments with pro gamer dick riders on this forum all the time when news broke that a few pros had input on the gameplay of mk9.i felt it wasnt needed then or now,but look at whats happening now?

i guess boon wants the game to be known for more than just over the top violence and whatnot and this is the way he chose to go.

The Brutalities feel more like Fatalities than the ACTUAL Fatalities.

thats how it feels to me as well.the fact that they are in game and not a 15 second cutscene like the fatalites gives them the edge in my book.i love fatalities to death so im hoping boon takes a good look at some of the fans ideas for the next game if they're still around.

Fatalities will never go away. It is Mortal Kombat's legacy. I agree Brutalities are more fun to pull off and Fatalities do get stale after awhile. But Fatalities are what this series is all about.

I agree. With every mortal kombat game, they introduce something new. Whether it may be a whole new idea (the challenge tower as well as x-ray moves back in MK9), or a new take on a finisher (brutalities), they test the market to see how they they respond to the new ideas.

Obviously, there's been a lot of positive feedback on brutalities. And this is because: A) it's designed to resemble classic fatalities since they are presented in a non-cinematic, traditional way, B) maintain the element of surprise and C) Several of them resemble or pay homage to classic finishers.

So it looks like brutalities may be carried over to the next game in a different fashion. However, you'll still have your cinematic fatalities. The only criticism I have for these fatalities is that some have awkward/bad camera angles. The first one that comes to mind is Kano's fatality where he slices your gut. They should have shown how the open wound with intestines falling out. Oh, and Mileena's fatality, where she eats off your face...I would have loved to see how the flesh is torn off from the face. Still, the fatalities are awesome. Just consider the detail off post-mortem on some of the finishers, example: how the face twitches and dies off during scorpion's spear fatality as well as how the face subtly moves in Ermac's head decap fatality.

There are so many awesome things about this game that I don't think one will replace the other. Perhaps, as Ion3008 stated, they may end up focusing on just have 1 main fatality, and incorporate other different finishers. They did do away with stage fatalities this time around, and people have been asking for the return of animalities. So there is still plenty of fodder for finishers to contemplate for the next game. But fatalities are the staple of the game, can't do away with those!

Ideally every ex-move and X-ray could become a Brutality.

MKX's Brutalities have nothing to do with the original Brutalities anyway, they're more like quick gory finishers more related to klassic fatalities.

There's a YouTube channel releasing all fatalities and brutalities by character! Here's the link for Ermacs. http://youtu.be/jYsFt5LAHug

No way NRS will get rid of fatalities in the next game. Brutalities seem to be getting a lot of positive feedback, so they will have a good chance of returning though. I think stage fatalities will return in the sequel, a lot of fans miss them in MKX.

...................

I feel bad that I even clicked on this thread but after reading what you said I felt even worse, I just wasted 2 mins of my life reading what a troll had to say about fatalities going away.

They might as well take Scorpion and Sub-zero out and replace them with Takeda and Frost.
