Just saw a video where someone was calling the other guy disrespectful just because of mercy. Personally, I don't think it is. I think there are other ways to be disrespectful if someone really wanted to be. I see it as the opposite. Like, "you are a nice guy, I'm not gonna slice you up, let's have some more fun." And from the other point of view, I take every game as a learning experience so if he isn't doing anything else that's consider annoying/disrespectful like constant zoning, t-bagging etc, then I just see it as a round extender and that the guy feels the same way about it.

How about you guys? Do you consider it disrespectful and why?

I consider it pointless at this point. I mean sure you can do a mercy only brutality but whooptee doo. Unless there's another ality linked to it, its pretty pointless. As for disrespectful, no. Its part of the game

If you pretty much dominated the match and throw out a mercy at the end, I can see why people might say it’s rubbing salt in the wounds. Disrespectful? No.

Disrespectful? No. And fatality's aren't either. I think there a lot that should lighten up, it's just a game. And MK is rooted in finishers, so why would any of the finishers be disrespectful?

The only thing is what Silent Edge EX said, Mercy's have pretty much become useless if it isn't attached to some impressive kind of -ality. And ditching the old requirements (only possible in final round). Attaching it to some brutality's is kinda odd.

I was expecting at least a hidden easter egg of 2 animalities in the game with the mercy similar to the secret fatality with shang tsung in MK2 where you could turn into kintaro. Perform mercy then do a jaguar brutality with kotan kahn and it says "animality" or Mercy then do Liu kangs fatal blow and the dragon chomps you in half instead and it says "animality"... I was expecting it to be along those lines. Also, I seen the Johnny Cage reveal trailer and thought when he was playing with his toy cage that he was performing a friendship. It makes more sense to get a friendship off after a mercy since Mercy is a friendly way or giving the opponent another chance to come back and win anyway. So no, its not disrespectful, it's giving you another chance and I hope they dont mercy at EVO then get rekt because of it lol.

Context.

I know when someone plays like an asshat, I figure them out then dominate the match, I do it as disrespect, since I know they're about to get wrecked again. I make sure to pop off a Brutality in that case as well. Pure disrespect and a taunt to my opponent.

When I have to scrap for the win, constantly adapting or being matched constantly and it's a final round situation where I'm 40 - 20% health, I'll use Mercy to extend a good match and give a chance for an upset/comeback. It's a matter of a thrilling game at that point and a sing of respect on my part.

Sorry mate, but why do you consider zoning disrespectful? Players and characters are different and some are obviously weaker in close combat. If you play someone that zones you its a legitimate tactic against opponent that is stronger in close combat. I think its a ridiculous that sometimes people expect from you to stop zoning by the cost of losing the mach. You can always adapt to beat the zoning player or you can just change the character to someone more convenient for beating the good zoner (e.g. some character with good teleport).

I said zoning was annoying, not disrespectful. And of course zoning by itself is not a reason to disrespect a guy. It's that with everything else combined.

Not disrespettfull imo. Sometimes plyrs do that bc it was a close match and you want to give the opponent another chance. I think mercy is a fun and positive addition to MK.

There are always those that find anything disrespecfull. Zoning, fatals etc. They would problably do mercy to disrespect, it kinda makes it confusing
