Yo, it's crazy how much I've seen in this game that brings me back to fans. I know there's a similar thread, but I'm not interested in seeing spoilers. These are just details that became apparent immediately in viewing and after seeing people point certain things out.

-Animation/Aesthetic-

Two things that were addressed by numerous fans as well as a specific series (A.B.I.Torial) on YouTube were the game's aesthetic (too dark, not enough pop to certain aspects DOWN TO GUNS) and animation: (something ABI referred to as "fence punching" and general wonkiness since the DA era).

NRS seems to have gone to painstaking lengths (in direct response) to make sure the animation doesn't look...funny (in doing so, spending way too much time showing it off; please speed this game up) and so that things such as hit sparks/Erron Black's GUNS are more noticeable. Cassie's guns are pretty big as well, but not comically so.

Color has been splashed over the game so much that Scorpion now has more red than black on his costume for some reason. MORE COLORS THO. I'm sure it's about that era's look represents the separating of Hanzo from Scorpion. That's the only way I could fathom that coloring choice.

Fan Inspiration

How many videos have you seen where people combined the X-Ray shots/visual with a hard hit from their game, a UFC fight, something ridiculous, etc.?

Tons of times. This combined with people bitching about how unrealistic it is to break an arm and crush someone's balls multiple times and the length of time it took to do so led to "Krushing Blows" and "Fatal Blows", because "yeah, that makes sense" - Some Guy, SFIII: 3rd Strike.

That's the extent of what I can see as being heavily inspired by fans. That and the idea of separating skills from the gear.

-Fanservice-

It's crazy to me how many things have carried over from somewhere in the past.

Baraka - Has multiple nods to his MKII moveset. Knee-kick, dropkick, body splash/outstretched arms jump punch.

Johnny Cage: Ninja-Mime counter, Cassie's action figure, personality overload, Triple Decapitation reference.

Nods to movesets or having certain moves/strings carryover from MK9/X are also welcome for legacy fighters. Nothing wrong with some CONSISTENCY. Still problems there, yeah? What with fucking off voice talent and story bits, but whatever, this is MK we're talking about and at least this story is gonna be ridiculous from the premise alone.

Ridiculous is ALWAYS better than plain bad and I'm ready to laugh. This game's development team seems VERY self aware and the fact that we now know that Erron, Kotal and D'vorah are back on the Outworld side of things, we get to see new fan favorites not get tossed aside like yesterday's bread in a SubWay.

-Another Fan's Suggestions-

Speed the game up. For one, it's jarring to go from what looks like MK2 speed fights to a Fatal Blow that moves lightning fast for the convenience of the player (huh?) and back again. If not the full game speed, how about the falling speed on jumps? Dudes be floating like Virtua Fighter.

People are split on the meter system it seems. I say give it to em both ways. Meter rebuils automatically at a slower pace, while attacking nets meter, higher amount if attack is blocked and small amounts to opponent who receives damage.

This could lead to crazy combos, even without the speed. Imagine you're about 5% away from killing with a combo you know, but then due to all these factors, your meter suddenly ticks at half near the end and you have a special in the pocket that can reset/restand the opponent allowing for the extra damage you need?

Unfair? Not really. Opponent could spin out, he's got the meter if he's getting his ass beat and that awareness or lack of in a given situation is what makes it interesting for me. What kind of crazy shit can happen in this fighter? The mechanics available to the game would make for some great scrambles if this meter building system had a more active component like the one described. Maybe. I'm not even tourney level, I just wanna see this game thrive and be fun as fuck as well.

Hopefully I get to try it and judge the game's feel based on experience. Old build or not, I'll have a sense.

Cheers.
