It is time for Havik!

NRS went safe with their MKX roster and that leaked roster is also very safe, lots of MK1-3 characters, 7 out of 8 MKX returnees and the 3D returnees in Sareena, Bo Rai Cho, Kenshi, Fujin & Li Mei are also very safe (MKX story and design wise). Onaga is the only outlier as playable. Havik would be another, but NRS makes odd choices just like with Baraka non-playable even though he made perfect sense to be included as well as more featured in the story.
And to be honost, I think you are right.
If he indeed doesnt make it to the roster, I hope NRS put him in as DLC...
I really liked the guy, very creative, one of my favourites from Deception

Havik has been loudly requested for so long at this point, I think it's surprising he hasn't shown up yet. I see him being in, for sure. If not main roster then definitely DLC.
I thought he was a sure thing for MKX after making an appearance in Noob Saibot’s MK9 ending.
Fingers crossed.

I've always had the impression that Havik was one of the select 3D era characters that NRS actually liked- so I'm sure they'll use this opportunity to bring him back. At least as DLC.

I’d love to see havik in MK11
I like Havik, and I think he will make appearances in stories in the future, but it just comes down to priorities. Is Havik really more a priority than the more iconic characters, which story nerds like me would be happy to see given a break, but to casual fans of the series are probably vital to breeding familiarity. Of the characters post-MK4 that really feel iconic, I think you've only got Quan Chi and Kenshi. Throw that onto the pile of 13 characters from MK1 and MK2, then add Shao Kahn (who must be involved in some way) and you've got 16 slots already taken up. You want to be fair to the modern new characters and hope they bring along newer fans and there's no disconnect. That takes you up 24. Then you do want to introduce new characters. It's hard for a character from that MK4-Armageddon period to really get featured in the spotlight when there are characters who do seem to have slightly more popularity -- Sindel, Fujin, Rain, Reiko, Ermac, Kabal and, especially, Noob Saibot come to mind.
I think his best shot is as DLC if people are screaming loud enough for him. But maybe they do get bored and decide to breathe some life into that IP so that they've got another potential "iconic" to bank on in the future. I wouldn't say his chances are impossible, but I just don't think it's likely when you think about priorities.

I could see Havik returning. Kittleson seems to have an appreciation for the lore and who knows, maybe he wants to bring back Reiko and Skarlet with him. I’m not sure how much pull he has in this regard, but hopefully the full team recognizes that they can’t keep regurgitating the Trilogy roster over and over again while ignoring so much of the potential, albeit largely unrealized, that the 3D era possesses.
They thought enough of Sareena and Li Mei to put them in MKX. Hopefully that means others will finally get a chance to shine while some of the slightly overused mainstays get a game off.
I could see Havik fitting in pretty well with the premise of this game.

When we last spoke to him, he works with Dom Cianciolo and John Vogel and some others. They do multiple passes of the story before it goes forward. They run those by Ed and the upper level folks and they give them a revised list of who is in and who isn't.
The comics "ARE" canon, by the way. There are just some things they needed to clean up from what I understand. I asked this of all of them before and they are indeed canon to the storyline.
Also, I can see them incorporating Past timeline Havik into the game, as he wrote Havik decently enough.
Kittelsen's comics ARE canon, just based on a old and not updated script of the story mode of MK X.
According to Kittelsen's Twitter Havik's healing powers work in a bizzarre way, he hinted at his survival.
Havik could return, but I wouldn't be 100% sure though.
Another thing to keep in mind is that it has been historically hard to predict just what is going to go on with the roster. They give "hot" characters breaks at random times. Beyond Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Raiden, I don't really know if anyone is an absolute guaranteed lock. I remember the effort that went into the stories for Noob Saibot and Sektor in DA: Tournament Edition and thought for sure that both would be back as playable in the next game. No Sektor; Noob-Smoke.
