Considering she manipulates time, I would:

1. Give her tricks that are too cheap to be used in a 2-player fight, putting her solidly in boss territory. She can bend time itself to her will, so her gimmicks should be almost impossible to overcome with straightforward fighting.

2. Make a secondary character, a henchman perhaps, who has powers with a similar theme but balanced enough that you can play around with it.

3. Introduce some kind of strategy or puzzle element to beating the boss, which circumvents her cheap time manipulation and makes her plausibly defeatable. Kind of like breaking the Kamidogu to stun Onaga, but hopefully, more necessary and better thought out than that.

... Adding a strategy element to beating Kronika would make her a unique play experience and a "smarter" kind of boss than we've seen before, since her big-boss predecessors have mostly relied on their ability to hit harder and take more hits than you while you slowly chip away their health with your fists. Punching is not the most convincing way to kill a god, never mind a god of time. So this is both more story appropriate and a more boss-like way to position the boss.

People who are looking for an extreme challenge can try to beat her without doing the strategy for extra satisfaction and/or YouTube hype, which should be possible but just barely possible.

Defeatable in MK11 or not, i think she is here to stay. She's not right at the top for nothing, and won't be taken for granted. I think she is yet to reach her pinnacle. Maybe she will in MK12. I mean, being sensible, who could replace her afterwards?

The problem facing her is in my opinion the fact that she is being built as this ultimate boss but characters like this rarely live up to the hype......we already have a character with time manipulation powers. This was the problem in MK 4 with shinnok, playable from the start and very similar to Shang. Kronika can’t just be a female Geras with more powerful attacks....she needs to stand out as a unique character in her own right.

Thirdly I’d say due to the fact she’s all about time you would need to possibly explain why she can’t just rewind time to the start of the match as soon as she’s close to defeat

Given the possible scope of her powers, would it even be possible to fight fair/even? It's not like you kan just walk up to her... Maybe overseeing timelines gives a bit of a mental strain, distracted moments or something. Are her powers passive/always on or does she have to actively activate them? How does Raiden engage in heated fights without causing hurricanes, tsunamis, n shit?

I don't even think she'll be fightable, (in MK11) just yet. Got to consider her intense powers. If Elder Gods are involved, maybe there's limitations to the usage of time manipulation to ensure things stay fair in Mortal Kombat. I don't think she's about good and evil, it's about alliances.

@umbrascitor is on the right track.

I'd like to see an element to the boss match that is not part of any other fight. Maybe something along the lines of little demons (Torr's size) attacking you during the match. Or when her health bar gets below a certain point, she unleashes something similar to a modifier to make it harder. Both health bars should decreases slower than a normal match so it lasts longer.

I really dislike boss matches that are over in a minute or so. Make it last 5 to 10 minutes, like a boxing match where you have to be strategic. To me it should just be 1 round so when you beat her, that's it and vice versa. It should be hard of course, but I hate that it's usually a zoning character with one or two spamming moves and you have to spam yourself to win.

I also would like the arena to have different ways for both you and her to 'die' as in spikes underneath, a portal in the middle to go a different arena of your choosing - if you're the one who knocks her in there - where you might have an advantage, something in the corners that is potentially deadly.

Another idea to make it harder is have you pick 2 extra characters before the final match who are with you in a cut scene and you can try with all of them (her health bar regenerates but not fully after she's beaten one of your characters). If you all die, she will rewind time back to the moment prior / right after beating Geras and you have to try again. This time, aside from your main who you beat Geras with, the 2 who just died are not selectable.

Thats a good idea......shes got to have a gimmick or something to her

Shao Kahn in mk 2011: unplayable and tough

Shinnok in X had an unlockable human form but also had a secondary form that was unplayable

so I think Kronika needs something like that

but then again Injustice dosent follow the pattern as both dark Superman and Brainiac were playable/unlockable and wernt all that great (IMO)

I think Brainiac worked well enough as a boss because while he was balanced to be playable, his boss encounter makes use of his ability to psychically control his ship. So there was still a more challenging element to the boss fight, yet it didn't require breaking the character to make him tough. It was a very appropriate "boss upgrade," I'd say.

I'd like to see the stage be similarly important in a fight with Kronika. With stage interactions being a thing, I think it would be cool to have an interactable item that you can use to, say, stop her from rewinding time when her health is low. Or maybe you have to do damage to her hourglass to limit her power. Or maybe Kronika herself is invincible, and getting around her to destroy the hourglass is the fight (kinda like this old boss battle against Chairface in The Tick). Perhaps that's the thing you have to do before you can actually beat her for good?

Watch Kronika bring the MK Conquest timeline in to play (joke right?). Now that would be something, but outrageous. If she's truly a time goddess doesn't that mean she can make things that aren't canon become canon, because there must be more than 2 timelines.

I was already thinking something like this. The discrepancies in Shaolin Monks are because it's another timeline from the MK Multiverse of MK1-A, The Movie/Annihilation, Mythologies, Conquest, Defenders of the Realm, Special Forces, MK vs DC, Legacy, MK2011/X/11, and the MKX comic. Everything's kanon to a certain degree, and have been referenced in later installments.

An alternate/enhanced boss version would be acceptable, and make sense. In the Twisted Metal franchise, the playable versions of TMB Minion, and TMHO Cousin Eddy were nerfed/scaled down from their boss battles, which both involved a shield puzzle segment.

I've seen ppl suggesting her stage transition between past stages or events. I was thinking the same thing, like the fight against Ultimecia in FFVIII.

Actually, I'd love that. That is a very cool idea and would fit perfectly with her powers... plus it would never be boring fighting on a stage like that (a little disorienting maybe...but then who doesn't like a good trip every now and again? lol)

The only thing I'm hoping for her, personally, is that they don't make her too similar to Geras. I want her to be completely different. For starters she should be able to do way cooler things with the time manipulation powers. Can't think of a good example of this right this second (very tired and need to sleep). What I'm getting at is that she should be way more skilled than Geras at this power. Make her powers completely time based and don't give her any of the sand special moves like he has. Leave those specific to him... Or make her be way more creative with them than Geras.

Should Johnny Cage make a V'GER reference at some point, probably a fight intro?

Her moves kould konsist of a kounter where she appears behind you if you try to hit her. Like DBZ's Afterimage technique.

Ghost projections, like Kenshi. To imply she's walking up to you, and attacking then returning to her original position while time was frozen or otherwise manipulated. Possibly an invisible projektile to imply the same.

Yes, decent ideas that would fit nicely within her powers. Also, I was thinking, maybe a 4 or 5 hit special (when enhanced of course...normal special would be 3 hits) where she pulls mirror versions of herself from different spots in time to attack you at once. I don’t know, given what her powers entail... it’s really a matter of imagination because lots of stuff could be possible with the ability to manipulate time.

I think there should be two versions, one playable, another unplayable, like Shinnok and Corrupted Shinnok.

In MKX there should have been even a more powerful version of regular Shinnok. I mean, where were the crimson lightning? The purple barrier? He could had more fighting moves and more specials.

If Kronika's objective is to rewind time (to change some things) there's no reason why she can't fast foward to the future as well (to change things). Or maybe Geras can only go foward with time and Kronika can freeze time longer than Geras and she can only go backwards in time. I think in MK12 they need to be going ahead with the saga, not back.

Maybe Kronika summons a younger version of yourself to battle for her, then after you beat it, she will enter the ring.
