Stryker is another one of those that could do with something drastic happening to him (like Mileena in MKX). I would've liked Stryker to be moved up to OIA (as an honour) and not be a regular S.W.A.T chief. The only part that would be challenging for him is that OIA are sort of Outworld F.B.I, despite being Earthrealmers. I don't think he could adapt in the agency unless he was trained to replace Sonya, Jax, Cyrax or Kenshi.

The only comparison i could see between John Cena and Stryker is that Stryker's fighting style could become wrestling, if he returned (maybe that was the intended indication).

A cop to me has no place in MK’s universe. He looks dumb and fat too. Give me fighters and martial arts champions.

I doubt they would get Cena to play Stryker's voice or likeness just for him to be an NPC.

I don't see how a "supercop" archetype fits any worse than a soldier, an organized crime boss, or a Hollywood actor -- i.e. roughly half the cast of the original game. Stryker is the classic everyman-on-the-street who has more power than he knows, but has no idea why he was chosen. And his MKX iteration was neither dumb nor fat.

MK9 gave him a pretty damn good update, I think. But that being said... watching him shoot his little cop gun while riding a demon horse and wiping out highly armed and armored soldiers in MKX looked a lot goofier to me than they meant it to be. I got a bigger laugh from that unintentional comedy than most of the actual jokes. If they really wanted to sell that moment as being menacing, then they should have given Stryker some kind of freaky demon gun that shoots explodey magic bullets, and a demon riot shield to protect him from the soldiers' automatic weapons. Hand grenades that... eat people or something. A real Revenant Stryker update, you know?

Having real world actors play my MK Characters is completely unnecessary. Great lets inflate the budget of the game to pay stars to use their likeness? And heck why use a professional voice actor when your can use wrestler or UFC fighter ? Just seems like excess to me and I dont care whose real world likeness is used in a video game.

They're owned by WB. If WB can waste hundreds of millions of dollars on a crappy Justice League movie, they can waste a few million on a wrestler or UFC fighter to voice a video game character.

On that note... while I'm aware the thread is about Cena, and that may well be who you were referring to... I feel I should interject once again that they're not using Ronda's LIKENESS... just her voice.

Sonya looks nothing like Ronda Rousey in MK11. Yet I keep seeing the idea perpetuated that they're using her likeness. They're not.

Even if Cena is involved, we don't necessarily know that his LIKENESS is.

@Gillbob316 All the characters have real faces. That's why they look so good. Just look at unmasked subzero. That is real actor's face. Boon had already stated that.

Strkyer does have a super plain look but he is a very good fighter if you know how to manage them.

If Kenshi, Jade, and Rain don't wind up in this title, I will be completely surprised. Boon said that a point of frustration was all the NPC's with built in movesets that you can't use or don't even face but see in MKX. Given the fact they have and always will listen to the fans, I think they'll be brought back as full characters.

If you want to talk about awful characters that I hope that don't come back, I'll just take one look at Jacqui Briggs and Bo Rai Cho. I already like Jax enough - Jax Jr can take a hike.

Meleena will most likely be back. I mean, shit, Baraka got split entirely in half and was holding himself together with like, duck tape in MK Gold. With her Tarkatan blood and the fact she's a huge fan favorite, she will most likely wind up here.

All the actors have real scanned faces yes... but voice acting and face scanning/performance capture are not one in the same. Nor are they necessarily the same actor. They can be, but we don't have any reason to believe they were in this case.

We've already seen footage of Ronda Rousey recording her lines in a sound booth. She clearly doesn't have Mocap dots all over her face, so they obviously weren't capturing her voice performance.

Hell, even if they DID capture Rousey's facial performance while recording (and we have no reason to believe they did) again, Mo-cap and Face scanning are two separate processes. One's about creating the model, the other is about mapping the models movements. You can capture a performance and map it to a completely different character model. Look at Andy Serkis in Planet of the apes. Hell, look at Alita Battle Angel in theaters now. Performance capture is about capturing facial ticks and movements and mapping them onto a model with similar musculature. Not necessarily about creating a photo-realistic 1:1 match of an actor's face.
