why was her fan nerfed so hard? i can barely do 200 damage combos while other characters like Noob Saibot and Sonya does 300+ easily.
my favorite Kitana corner combo was b+2~31~fan lift, 4~fan toss, 21343. it only did 285 damage, nothing crazy, but i was happy as F to be able to style on my friends. Im a PC player and i spent the first 3 days practicing and perfecting this combo because it looked so stylish. Now, after the latest patch, i cant even do my favorite combo anymore. Her combos look like garbage and does garbage damage. Its really disheartening to have to find another character to main. Im starting to think about giving up on this game all together. The currency gift means nothing to me, i just want the old kitana back.
PLUS, none of her amplified moves extend her combos while i've seen Noob saibot use 2 different amplifications to extend his combos to 15 - 16 hits. what the hell?

Although I do agree with OP, from what I’ve seen of her, didn’t look like she needed a nerf of any kind. Her damage output when compared to most others isn’t very high to begin with... or have I missed something?


She was ABSURD in MKX, I'm just happy to see her nerfed into oblivion!
She is un playable online, I can't win any matches with her. Her fastest start up attacks are too slow and predictable and her moveset doesnt have much potential. Even in AI mode Kitana is shit and constantly getting her ass kicked. I'm highly disappointed how NetherRealm handled her.

Most ppl dont play kitana how kitana is suppost to be played that's why she seems weak she is by no means a rush down character in THIS game she's kinda like noob hard punish and keep away
I'm pissed that Kitana is such garbage in this game. Not being able to combo her fans mid-screen is absurd. She has been able to combo her fans since MK2. She has 0 mixup game, no real overhead, and slow buttons. Nothing is safe with her and worst of all, she has one half-decent combo starter which people are going to learn to block real quick. What I loved about her in MKX was that there were a 100 different ways to achieve the damage you want. In this, every Kitana I've seen does the same exact combos. Boring...
I never understood the hate she gets from the community. So many other characters can do way more juggles and damage and have crazy mixups. Yet Kitana gets hate because she throws fans? She was low-tier in MKX and definitely low-tier in 11. I suspect people hate on her online because she's not used by a lot of people so players never bother to learn her strings.

What do you mean? Almost everything is safe except 2 strings which are useless anyway except for kombo enders. But agree with everything else.
She has less damage with her basic kombo than Sub Zero with his and he is Mr. 50/50. Wtf....

It's probably because she was one of the main characters that players always pick, other than Scorpion. So they nerfed her to get people to play other characters. I think its the devs way of getting people to spread out and quit picking the same character.
Which of her strings are safe? I'm confused because I'm always getting button mashed out of my strings by my button mashing friend lol. If most of her strings are safe she should be a frame trapping god. But she isn't.
Whatever the case, she needs a buff badly.

Not even true... well at least on PS4. She was one of the least picked characters for me. I saw hundreds of Scorpions, Erons, Sonyas, Cassies, Lius, Kung Laos... Kitana was one of the least picked. In fact, I would enter private matches with other good Kitanas I came across from ranked because of this.

Like I said, almost every string is safe. The only string you can get "mashed out" of is B34 but it needs to be perfect so mashing wouldn't really work. And only with 7 frame or faster attack. There are 2 more strings that can be flawless blocked at the end and those are B131 and B231, D2. But all 3 of these are safe. And if you don't know what that means if a string is safe on block, it means your opponent can't punish you but of course, it's still his turn to attack. So if your move is safe on block you are able to block the next attack. -7 and up is safe. So -6, -5, -4 etc. For frame trapping, a string must end on plus frames. Like Liu Kang's F43, U3 is +4 on block. Or Scorpion's 212 is +7 on block.

Still learning frames so this info is great. Thanks. I was a "by feel" player in MKX. Highest rank achieved with her was 202 on PSN. But MK11 has me actually learning frame data. Thanks again.

Upper mid: Noob, Baraka, Cassie, Liu Kang, Jax
Mid: Kitana, Cetrion, Jacqui, Kabal, Skarlet, Johnny Cage
Lower Mid: Kano, Raiden, Kung Lao, Jade, Kollector
