I have a feeling one of Kronika's abilities will be to rewind time in the match, and the players literally watch a certain portion of the match go in reverse as damage is undone.
I think this would be more interesting than just "freezing" the opponent in the air (this is already what sub-zero does anyway).
I suppose the "enhanced" version would either last a longer amount of time rewinding, or makes it so it only reverses the damage to Kronika, and her opponent's damage remains.
Isn't rewinding the match already one of Geras' abilities?
(Frankly, this is one of my concerns about both characters, they basically just look like a male and female design of the same concept at this point, and I worry it will homogenize both, making either less unique and interesting)

I agree with this and for this reason I hope that we either
A) don't get a playable kronika OR Geras can be customized to appear as kronika
B)The playable kronika that we do get is changed, enhanced, fused to onaga or something like that.

Uh doesn't that fly in the face of your argument? You don't want the two of them to be redundant yet you're cool with being able to customize Geras to look like Kronika? Huh? Why not just make her playable.
Or I have an even better idea. Ready kids? How about we wait and see what Kronika's gameplay abilities are before we start dictating stuff? Crazy right?

It's called "speculation". Nothing wrong with it, especially when it has to do with a character's move set as opposed to something as trivial as which characters will make it and which won't. Nothing was revealed as far as her inclusion on the main roster were concerned, so theorizing about her potential move set, whether she's a sub-boss, main boss, and/or a playable character, is perfectly acceptable. Making the effort to persuade users to avoid taking part in conjecture is all but dooming the site to the state it was prior to MK11's reveal, which was akin to the inactivity of a graveyard.

That seemed like an extremely.... irritated? annoyed? pissed off? response. Why do you seem so upset at speculation like this on an MK forum?
Maybe you missed my point? Probably not though.
All I was trying to say is that their gimmicks, their abilities, are extremely similar. To be even more clear, they both have the ability to manipulate sand and time. This is why it would take some extra effort on NRS's side to make them play differently.
It's not about the character themselves being redundant, its about the gameplay. Nothing to do with story.
If you ask me, its like having frost and sub zero in the same game. I don't see the point as their powers are very similar. They could make them play differently, but I would rather a more unique character in terms of gameplay.
She will obviously have Reptile and Flash's ability to slow down time, since Geras doesnt have it.
Another kool idea, What if she "pulls" fighters from the timeline to fight for her? She would hover into the background, and then some NPC mk-alumni would come out and perform a task for her. The Kabal dash was my first thought, there could be a sheeva stomp, a stryker grenade toss, etc. The data for this mechanic is already in the game because of the assist-modifiers in the towers.
Maybe she can even call it an older or younger version of yourself. Or even just a version of yourself in a different costume, representing an alt timeline.
A fireball. Made of "temporal energy" or something. After she throws it, she can freeze it in time and basically "save it for later" similar to Liu Kang's red fireball from his Dualist variation.
Did anyone else notice that she is carrying what looks like a WWE championship belt, that has batteries on it? I hope this isnt how she time travels. That's pretty whack. You can see young Liu Kang holding it at one point too.
