New Idea for Mini-Game called Stand Your Ground
Another idea for a mini-game that I think could be a really practical application for the game would be a mini-game called "Stand Your Ground". It could be a held in a small circumference circle or box outline for one's character to defend but big enough to move around in comfortably.
Then you could pose either one on one or tag-team matches against one's character in the video game. And the video game's character could just have to defend the grounds upon which they stand on while enduring the barrage of offensive hits of they're opponent. And if they move outside of the specified area then they would lose the mini-game.
I think this could be a good mini-game to show a character of how to defend one's grounds for certain family members or one's self from invaders or aggressors. It could also resemble how one could defend one's ground when backed into a corner or having nowhere else to go where you would have to defend where you are. It just an idea to give more variety the video game. What do you think about it?
Comments and criticisms are welcome.

Honestly I didn't get HOW this is supposed to work gameplay wise?
Button mashing, QTEs,button combination, etc.
The idea itself is not bad.

???
This seems really cheesy, even by MK standards.
Is this supposed to teach life lessons to the player and/or kombatants?
How about Test Your Tolerance?
We have enough mini-games for now.
If they'd just properly incorporate Test Your Might/Sight in arcade ladder, that'd make me quite happy.

With this inclusion of mini-games, they would have at least over 11 mini-games to incorporate. "Test Your Might", "Test Your Sight", "Test Your Strength", "Test Your Reflexes", "Test Your Speed", "Test Your Knowledge", "Test Your Agility', "Test Your Will", and "Test Your Balance'. along with "Stand Your Ground" and "Fight For Him/Her".
I wonder if they made any more improvements with the current roster of characters or added and created some new characters? Do you know, Rock Chalk?

Ummm... unless you work for NRS, I'm pretty sure those bolded ones do not exist.
The only official minigames we have are Test Your Might, Test Your Sight, Test Your Strike, Test Your Luck, Test Your Balance (Vita only (though it could work with the PS3 controller,)) and Test Your Slice (Vita only.)
It would be cool if they varied the minigames per arcade ladder, though.
Anyhow, I'm sure they're going to add a new character or two for MK10. Armageddon introduced two (Taven and Daegon,) and MK9 introduced two (Skarlet and Cyber Sub-Zero,) so if this trend keeps up, there'll probably be some new blood.
None of the devs have announced anything via Twitter yet, nor will they (likely) do so until Injustice has been released.
We'll just have to wait and see.

@ Rockchalk
Well, I just hope with the new MK release that they add a multitude of new, well thoughtout and in-depth characters in terms of their gameplay. I've got a pletra of ideas for characters that could be implemented into the next series of games. And I would guarantee that they could be inserted into game storywise, as well as be a standout character in their gameplay. I think they could give NRS some new looks and invigorate the momentum that they have built up with MK9's success.

No offense, but those are really cheesy names for mini-games, and none of them sound fun to play.
I get the point that you're trying to get out of them, but remember, they're mini-games. They're not really supposed to be really anything significant for a character in the game.

If I went into more detail about how the mini-games would work, they'd be just about as fun to play as the current mini-games that MK has right now. The point of the various "New" mini-games proposed would be to add some variety to the already old mini-games.
Another point of the mini-games can be to serve as a more entertaining way to uncover hidden characters, prizes and secrets within the game also. They're not supposed to be the main attraction but as to offer a somewhat fun way to uncover other hidden secrets to the game as well. I could go into more detail about how these games would be designed if you need further explaination of how the games would work.
@Icebaby
Sounds like you're not too impressed with the current mini-games. I think adding some more variety would give the mini-games so zeal. I can think of at least 11 mini-games that MK could have. And then I could also include a multitude of new, original and standout creative characters to add to MK that would give the franchise new zeal and invigoration with their unique and original gameplay. I just hope that some of the ideas could be considered for inclusion.

Um, I never stated that at all. I happened to enjoy the mini-games they brought into MK2011.
Mini-games aren't supposed to take away the attention of the main game. Sure, you can think of ideas of mini-games, so can I as well as the next person. But they're not supposed to be so great, introduce new characters only for that or whatever. They're nothing incredibly significant, just something to do if you're not interested in fighting against computers or your friends.

I like the stand your ground idea, kind of like sumo wrestling. How it would be implemented - one of several ways:
>Button mashing like test your might,
>Following commands on screen like Challenge tower #33 'pulling my strings' mission where Kano has to free himself from Quan Chi's hypnosis,
>Looking to see where the projectiles are aimed from and using the D-pad to avoid or the attack buttons to hit in the right place.
>NOT like close kombat that was really cheap.
... for example.
My flatmate also came up with a great idea in keeping with the rhyme scheme. Test your Flight. a couple of days after he suggested it i found and showed him the post about the flying Sheeva on a catapult and it was similar to what he had in mind.

I wasn't considering that "New Characters" be soley introduced through mini-games. I was just saying that it could be "one of many ways" that the characters be introduced through the various creative ways that MK has done in the past. And with the intro of new mini-games can also be a creative way to introduce new characters.
But besides the intro of the new characters, I think the fighters would be "GREAT" additions to the franchise because of the variety of their specialty moves. They would different from any thing that MK has ever seen and for the fighting genre for that matter. And I think they would have a good chance of being favorited characters if given a test run with popular or well known hardcore fight game video game players.
I like the name, not the concept.
If there was a Stand Your Ground, I would see it more like the game of Red Hands/ Slaps. All MK games essentially have 4 buttons, high kick, low kick, high punch, and low punch. Most moves is a combination of direction moves plus one of these button. For example, Scorpion spear for the most part, have been back, back, upper punch. The objectives for one is of course, to dish out the move. The other is to guess which button will be used, hereby blocking the move. Right guess, turn switches. Wrong guess, open for a free hit.

@Seasrmar
Thank you for the compliment. As far as the concept, the mini-game would work like a character defending a confined amount of space against their aggressor. Their aggressor(s) can execute randomized sommersaults across the space while executing flying kicks and punches at one's character. The video game players's character can block their attacks or try jumping vertically upwards and attacking at the jumping/ariel attacks. It could work like kind of being backed up in a corner. I figgure that this could be another fun challenge concept for a mini game or be a concept to added in the Challenge Tower...

If I may make couple names suggestion then? How about Cornered In or Cornered Animal instead, since this is base on the concept of the phrase that goes something like "An animal is the most dangerous when cornered."
As far as my concept above. Now I'm not train in any forms of martial arts in anyway, but I am a huge fan of it, or any form of fighting for that matter. One of the reason why I like Mortal Kombat is the fighting. How often we seen in movies and televisions that do feature fighting, especially in amicable fights, the executions on both competitors were so smooth that they complement each other. One deliver a punch, the other is ready to block and deliver a counterattack, then the whole cycle repeats itself. That is the basis of my concept above. Effectively timing and blocking the right attack.
I have more. I want to tell you that these might be phenomenal but in the same time someone might not prefer these. Give out your opinions.
