Dragon King as a better threat.

I'd like Onaga to be in the game and playable, but I hope he's not the big bad. He'd be perfect for sub-boss status.

The new threat can be a new Deadly Alliance. Shang Tsung and a new sorcerer: an alchemist.

But he'll be one of Onaga's acolytes.

I'd be very surprised if they rehashed the storyline from the generally unpopular 3D games. I'm expecting something fresh.

If the formula is holding true here is what I think could happen after what has already happened.

MK9 was a retelling of the original 3 MK games all based around Shao Kahn's takeover attempt of the Earthrealm.

MKX is a new take on the MK4 and MK Gold storyline where Shinnok has escaped his prison to once again try to plunge the Earthrealm into darkness.

See as how many endings had Shang Tsung popping up or being hinted at there are a couple of ideas as to what the next story will be. If Quan Chi's story ending holds true and they did kill him off then I'd say Onaga is the next boss. However just like Tsung is resurrected it doesn't mean Quan Chi is completely dead and the Deadly Alliance story will be retold. I do believe sometime in the future we'll have a retelling of MK Armageddon.

It's time for a new sorcerer to take over. Shang Tsung will join that newcomer forming a new Deadly Alliance. My alchemist idea still stands.

Would be nice not to rehash again. That would make the reboot even more pointless. I say Noob Saibot escapes the soulnado and wages war. Maybe even form a brotherhood of shadow with Liu and Kitana. Then you use the revanants and Sereena and have Raiden be the third faction in noobs war against earthrrealms forces.

or skip some years and have an actual official MK tournament, since there hasn't been one since MK2

I dunno.

On one hand, I kinda like the Dragon King and they fucking made Shinnok awesome in this game, which means they can save anyone. Seriously its like "Oh they got personalised intros... shame they havent got Shang Tsung" to "Holy shit, its a shame we are never gonna see Shinnok again because he is awesome."

But then again, I wonder where they could go for the next game. Maybe the big bad is actually Evil Raiden and just as you think team newbies win, Onaga walks in and then bam! 4 year wait.
