Early much? I know. I watched everyone's ending and I know most of these never end up canon. But unlike previous MK games that at least give hints on the Dragon King and Shinnok, this one does not.
I think they'll go the prequel route. Mortal kombat Zero has a dope ring to it.

Good. Sometimes it feels pretty cheap and predictable when they foreshadow the big bad for the next game in a super obvious way.
I'm glad they left things open for speculation for MK12. Makes MK11 feels like an epic story in its own right without feeling like nothing but padding to lead into the next game.
I'd actually like to see MK12 buck status quo and not have a single big bad. But various conflicts and threats that spans many characters individual stories. Having one big boss is getting dull to me. Where do you go from a being like Kronika?
Well there are a lot of Onaga mentions....

There were Onaga mentions, but this game and story mode felt like the end of a three game arc started in MK9.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they go somewhere completely new for the next one.

I said this before and I'll say it again, I'm hoping that the next few MK games all happen in their own timelines, where things are all slightly different, the characters' origins and motivations vary, and the main conflict and antagonist is different every time, and the overall story arc is entirely self-contained. There's so much possibility for fun, creative what-if scenarios in the MK universe, this would be a great opportunity for them to fully explore some of them.

Here's to hoping wherever they go- it's fresh new ground with fresh new threats. I don't want Onaga or any other villain we've already had. The post above mine is a pretty cool one. The possibilities are endless now with various timelines at our disposal. Let's branch out and not just do the same ole, same ole.
My votes for Kochal

Well, I mean due to how NRS has approached story telling in the last three MK games (Not counting MK vs DC) none of the arcade endings have ever led to anything or been an indicator of where the series is going narrative because NRS always, ALWAYS pulls a "FUCK YOU!" U turn now.
You're not rewarded for paying attention to the story in MK anymore, instead you're punished.

Is it too much to ask that, all the spectacle and intrigue the team’s become so fond of, be rooted around an ACTUAL Mortal Kombat tournament? Kotal’s MKX ending left me so ready for another tournament....it’s not gonna happen...but, you know...sigh.

I know right? You would figure with the onset of Dark Raiden and Kotal and Bo Rai Chos' endings that a Raiden led earth realm retaliation/invasion would be the obvious direction the story would be going. But how silly of us to think so! The obvious progression of the story was clearly time travel shenanigans and another reboot! Duh!
Has Rian Johnson been ghost writing this series for the last three games now because that would explain a hell of a lot.
Especially when it comes to the time travel shit. Watch Looper the guy doesn't have a clue.

Shao Kahn did nothing wrong

This would be dope. I want another MK Tournament so bad.

Considering MK11 was heavily influenced by mobile design, MK12's story will be about going mobile, and the "big bad" will be the premium shop. You won't use down, forward + front punch to defeat the big bad, you just enter your credit card number (and security code on the back). You will have to pay $7.50 per special move, fatalities will be a bit higher @ $9.99 (and .99c fee every time you want to use them, and an extra .49c if you want blood to be red, and another .25c if you want sound during the fatality), but uppercuts and leg sweeps will be a steal at just $4.99 each! MOBILE KOMBAT! Remember, your credit card is always your best weapon in a NRS game.

Please, for the love of Satan, don't give them ideas
