So first: with the end of MKX, Raiden has become corrupted through the amulet the revenants are still part of the story. Kitana and Liu are still revenants too, but it's not a foregone conclusion this will carry over though it's highly likely. What could this mean for the others: Sindel, Smoke, Kabal, Nightwolf and Kung Lao?

Does anyone think the spell is broken at some point in MK11's story mode? I really hope they find a way to undo that whole revenants bit and it's just the amulet and Shinnok still being alive that has a hold on Raiden. Liu Kang and Kitana could then potentially just be under his spell or decide to work with him and become corrupted in the process.

The revenant's look with the cracked skin was just awful aesthetically and for that sake alone I wouldn't want it to be any part of the current story. If any of those other characters are in, I just want them to be normal looking. Maybe the time reversal undoes it all, could be plain and simple.

The 2nd part of this to me are the deaths in MKX: Mileena, Baraka, Quan Chi and Shinnok. It is almost 99% sure none of these are back in MK11 for story implications, but also because fans have been bitching so much about death needing to mean something. It's a video game and while I could live with the story actually evolving, certain characters never returning and death meaning something.

However, with the likelihood of time reversal, different timelines and such this is the perfect game to bring back any character they want. NRS doesn't need a reason, but since it's the plot, maybe those idiotic fans can accept deaths being undone.

That being said, I still do not expect any of those 4 back since they are tied to each other in pairs (Mileena and Baraka + Quan Chi & Shinnok). The main problem I have with this is that 3 out of these 4 were playable. If NRS planned to make the story as it was and killing of those 4 then given the plot, it would've made sense to make all 4 playable. Right?

I don't see how people could disagree with that and really I would have no problem with Baraka - my favorite character sure - to sit this one out if it meant that NRS would give shine to other characters that were not playable in MKX. However, it would be real dick move in my opinion if all those 4 do not show up now, that only Baraka was left out of MKX. At least they should've made him a DLC.

There's of course still a chance for DLC for Baraka though with Xenomorph I get a feeling NRS is putting him in the category of Moloch, Hsu Hao, Drahmin and Motaro.

So in conclusion, please discuss how you feel about the revenant's look, story carrying over in MK11, how you think they will deal with it and or should deal with it and if you agree that it's a video game, therefore death shouldn't mean anything and it is odd that of the 4 deaths in MKX only Baraka wasn't playable.

I do agree about the cracks on the revenants, but I hope MK11 makes each one look unique. I like that some characters are currently revenants because it’s honestly the most interesting aspect some have had story-wise.

As for the character deaths...I do want death to have some meaning behind it. That to me means sitting out one or two games, which isn’t that much of an issue. Hell; majority of my favorites are currently dead...Cyrax (fuck that triborg nonsense), Drahmin and Havik.

I don’t think baraka is in the same category as Hsu Hao, some characters just had to be “sacrificial lambs” both in the comics and game.

I may tweak this later or expand upon it, due to me being on a mobile device.

Baraka will be in mk11, playable. I'm calling it.

I agree about the aesthetic but I have no quarrel with revenants in terms of the story. Time reversal will probably play a huge role, and the characters are customizable aesthetically. I expect we will see many different versions of the same characters and I would be surprised if revenants weren't one of them.

I think you contradicted yourself a bit there. Either that or you think even with the time manipulation there is only a 1% chance we see these characters.

Since we know time manipulation will be a major part of the story I wouldn't count any of these characters out. I don't expect to see Shinnok though.

I think it is way too drastic to put him in the category of those other characters. I don't think Baraka would have fit well into the 3 variation system in MKX, but who knows why they chose not to include him in MKX. Although Baraka has always been kind of a jobber, he is a classic jobber and MK tends to lean into nostalgia factors and bringing back old classic characters.

I've been on board with Mortal Kombat since 1994 - and I thought the revenants looked cool af. Especially Lui Kang! God damn his revenant look looked awesome!

As for the importance of deaths... I don't know, honestly, I think Baraka is one of the less popular characters, if we're being honest with ourselves. Sure, would've been nice to play as him, but it's not necessary in MKX. In MK11... see, I think people might be... I don't know... assuming a little much, regarding the term "time-bending" being used to describe the story. We have very little information now regarding what the story arc is. So... who knows, maybe Baraka returns, maybe not. It would be nice, but there are many characters I could think of that would be more popular (Noob Saibot, Havik, for example). We'll see! Just a little over a day left.
