Retconned and ruined her. I've ranted about this in the Shang Tsung trailer thread but this character is beyond butchered. She no longer even makes sense in the no Armageddon timeline seeing how originally she selflessly killed herself to protect Earthrealm. I already didn't like this retcon because it removed the tragedy and moral ambiguity from her story.

Now with this her MK9 story doesn't make sense because she gladly sold out her own realm and willingly married Shao Kahn all to remain in position of power. She's basically just Rain, Mileena and Tanya now. Just another backstabbing Edenian.

Why did they have to retcon her to always be a horrible person instead of just having it that her current state as a revenant was causing her to remain evil?

NetherRealm has no consistency. They always change things. The question now is, why was she dead then before MK9 if she Didn’t kill her self anymore ?

They have ruined a lot of backstory relating to Kitana. The MK9 Kitana/Mileena retcon was literally the worst retcon they’ve ever done. Then in MK11, they ruined Jerrod’s death by having D’vorah kill him instead of Shao Kahn. Now they’re ruining Sindel’s backstory. The only thing I did like is that they solidified Kitana’s story as Shao Kahn’s daughter and Outworld princess.

I know that a lot of people are mad over these retcons but the way I see it is that where they are having Kronika merging timelines that a lot of these charactes are from different eras and timelines so with the merger, everyone isn't quite as they were anymore. That's just my opinion.

Oh man was the retcon of Mileena and Kitana ever awful, and they could have easily fixed it too. Some mind trickery, a Kitana memory wipe here, a scorned abandoned Mileena wandering the wastelands there striving to fall into the good grace of her father once again and have her unreasonably blame Kitana for her plight. Have her destroy the poor imitation of her introduced to us in MK9 because she was clearly undercooked with that weird childlike mind. It was an easy fix.

But yeah basically the entire story involving the invasion of Edenia and Kitana at this point has been ruined.

I don't know man, it's quite a leap to make Sindel such a horrible person. My main problem is, this is now going to be the story prominent in the minds of modern players so this is her now.

There is a lot of backstory from MK1 - MKA that was never really well fleshed out. Some of the changes that were introduced in MK9 I could conceivably accept as better interpretations of grey-area lore.

Sindel suddenly being evil and cruel, and Edenians in general seeming to be not very nice people at all I must admit is a major contradiction. Kitana, Jade, Sindel and the others were always portrayed as kind and peaceful people that train as warriors out of necessity, to ensure their survival in a world ruled by Shao Kahn.

Tanya and Rain, on the other hand, were always underhanded and sneaky SOBs. They were very clearly bad in the original timeline, and MXK continued to establish them as conniving throughout the story. They had no plans on remaining loyal to Mileena and were going to turn on her at the first chance they got.

Personally I like evil Sindel. Her story was always pretty wishy-washy in the OT so its a welcome change for me. I think the only thing that's really jarring about this is that the stark contrast to the established character. Her story is still meh, but now her allignment has been changed to be evil rather than good. I don't quite get why they did that, and they may change or expand upon it later, which they sometimes do. We'll see when she comes out in a few months.

I agree. I hate how they cloned Mileena in Kitana's adulthood, it doesn't seem psychologically natural for Kitana to consider her a sister after knowing her for a short period of time before she became revenant. It doesn't make sense.

And she tells Jade...: "You are more my sister than Mileena."

No shit, you barely know her.

Maybe I'm not that heartbroken because I never really cared for her, but Sindel fans must be pissed off royal. I don't know where this retcon crusade came from but NRS are taking it all the way.

So... Sindel is now a Cersei Lannister clone. Lame.

Mortal Kombat: Where the story is made up and the points don't matter.

The only positive personality addition for Sindel in MK11 is showing that she considers Mileena her daughter. Not thrilled with this damaging retcon as a Sindel fan.

I honestly think Sindel works better as a villain and would have had no problem with them never being able to reverse Quan Chi, or in the old timeline, Shao Kahns' hold over her because once they turned her good again there wasn't much for her to do. Still a cool character but story wise all she could really do is sit on her lily white bride of Frankenstein Edenian queen ass. Hell Mileena was doing more for Edenia than she was in Deception.

So I think it would have been better to keep her as this imposing undead empress.

But to change her from the root. To take away her tragic backstory and just warp her into being an all out evil person from the start. Unforgivable. It irreparably damages not only her, but Kitana, the lore of Edenia and fall of Edenia story.

And it also is just one more thing to make Shao Kahn look that much less imposing. Seriously this guy was once portrayed as mind and muscle, now he's just a brute who got lucky in his conquest of the realms and had other underlings do his dirty work.

Why would these other beings even serve under him if he is so stupid and so easily dispatched?

Never was a Sindel's fan, but this is just too much. Massive HATRED.

I wouldn't even say I'm really a Sindel fan really. She certainly isn't in my top 15 though I do certainly like the character, at least cosmetically and I think she HAD a lot of potential.

It's more her backstory and the backstory of Edenia I was a fan of and that's why I'm so outraged by this change. There was some real tragic and compelling stuff in the old story of the fall of Edenia and what happened to her and what was done to Kitana but now it's just all gone.

From retcon after retcon, I'm no longer surprised of any more character changes.

I keep telling myself I'm now numb to it and NRS can't hurt me with however they choose to bastardize what once was. But then they suprise me, the lengths they go to do this stuff almost feels spiteful hahah.

I think fans are also partly responsible for this. They are not vocal enough, most of them seem to be careless about the lore. This is also the reason why NRS let themselves do what they want and twist the once quite interesting story and unique universe of MK.

There are so many means now to express our opinion - Facebook, Twitter, etc. But the voice of reason usually sinks in the sea of fanboyism.

The times of a official forum are done as they need care. Only populistic cryers are all around, they hop on opinions, just there to see the world burn. They come and go and pollute twitch, fb, Instagram, twitter. Reasonable voices just cannot shine..

I also would like to discuss balance, but nowadays it's seems not interesting at all to people.
