Just wanted to throw this topic out there. Since Skarlet uses blood magic, would you consider her a "vampire" character. That being said, Vaeternus be represented by her in a since since Nitara isn't featured?

What does everyone think?

Skarlet already has an established backstory. She's a construct made by Shao Kahn from the blood of fallen warriors. Similar to Ermac, except with blood instead of souls.

For that reason no, I do not consider her a vampire, nor would I want her to represent Vaeternus, because it conflicts with her established backstory. She's not from Vaeternus. She's from Outworld.

No thanks.

If that realm is going to be represented in a new MK game, Nitara should be the one filling that role.

I wonder would Nitara see Skarlet as one big walking talking delicious looking bacon cheeseburger.

Nah, and if this is a "characters are just functions" argument then I can easily propose other ways to handle Nitara rather than have her revolve around blood magic.

Like, oh I don't know, have her move set revolve around summoning bats? Transforming into beasts? Flying?

Her spitting up blood always irked me anyway.

Why would a vampire sacrifice

I'm half wondering if the realm the Saurians call Zaterra is Vaternus, Nitara's realm. Might explain why she had Saurian artifacts(Reptile's Kirihashi blade, and medal).

I liked how it looked like she had one eye covered in her primary, it gave her character, aside from the wings.

Skarlet's Russian femme fatal voice does have that cliche vamp vibe.

I vill hayef jor blod, me stir Cayj!

Vaeternus and Zaterra are two different realms.

Kotal Kahn drinks his opponents blood too, but he is not a vampire. The only vampires known in the Mk mythology are nitara and Kahil Grigesh, who is dead and just mentioned in Nitara's bio.

Not any more. Retcon.

Nitara masterminded to unmerge Vaeturnus from Outworld but her private infatuation (whether that be good or bad) for Shao Kahn and her race's hostile devotion to him makes this process uneasy. Maybe the denizens of Vaeturnus wanted to be part of Outworld instead of warring.
