As I’ve said in a previous thread, the silence is indeed deafening. But as said above, When Ed Boon tweets, it’s more often than not, MK related.

The Injustice 2 Pro Series finals are next week(11/13). The tournament will be aired live on national television as well as streamed live on Twitch. I gotta believe if the announcement is happening this year, that’s when it happens. I honestly don’t see the VGA’s as an option. Why do the VGA’s when you skipped e3 entirely?

We’ll all see soon, I suppose. If we don’t see an announcement this year, then it’s time to hunker down, friends. We may not be seeing this game for a while.

I disagree, the VGA'S absolutely seem the most likely place for the announcement. Ed has tweeted more than once about nothing being leaked before the end of the year, strongly suggesting we'll see the announcement for MK 11 in December. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on MK11 being announced at that show.

I get why people look to the VGA's as it's gotten a reputation for reveals every year. But realistically, when's the last time, post Spike TV, that a huge franchise has made an announcement(other than DLC and the like) at the VGA's? I struggle to think of one.

Plus the show has a fraction of the eyes on it compared to E3.

Neeeeeed MK 11 so baaaaad

I hear what you're saying, but I feel MK simply wasn't ready to be shown at E3 this year. An extra six months is a good chunk of time and Ed has dropped hints on numerous occasions that the new game will be revealed near the end of the year. Although the VGA's don't draw as many eyes as E3, it still has a large audience and game reveals are a sure thing. If it isn't shown at the VGA's, then we'll most likely have to wait until E3 2019, but I have a strong feeling we won't.

Honestly if we haven't seen anything by now, I don't expect an announcement until 2019, with the release in late 2020. We're in for a hell of a wait.

If nothing happens there... then it will be for next generation consoles...

I would really hate to see that the next installment of MK would go exclusively to next gen consoles. It would be foolish of NRS not to release one more game for this generation, especially when the next gen of consoles is looking at a 2020 release...that would make 2018 and 2019 two consecutive years without a game release, which will greatly hurt revenue.

I also feel that if MK is the first NRS game on a next gen console, it will undoubtedly be the "experimental" game where they toy with new features and tech, but then fine tune and perfect it with the release of Injustice 3 the following year. That seems to have happened with both previous MKs. Injustice and I2 were both extremely polished upgrade to MK9 and MKX respectively and I would hate for that to continue being the case next gen.

I’m with you, but my hype for a reveal this year is pretty much dead. I’ll happily eat my words if I’m proven wrong, but there’s nothing else in sight beyond the vga’s except next years e3. I’ve said from the beginning, if the game is revealed at e3 2019, we won’t see this game till 2020.

I’m pretty bummed out about it, but...it is what it is.

It's three options at this point;

1 - A reveal at the VGA's. They had quite a few exclusives during last years show so perhaps MK will be present if they decide to up the ante. They tripled their viewership last year so it's becoming more and more of an event with more exclusives likely.

2 - A secret and planned random date announcement. Let's face it, WB is usually in bed with Sony. And with Sony now not attending E3 and nobody knowing what the future holds for PSX, who the hell knows when we may see something MK related if it comes through Sony. Most likely than not, it will not be at E3 2019 with Sony not being there so that leaves some other undisclosed and probably undecided upon date.

Or 3 - Still a ways off because it's possibly a next-gen launch title. Self explanatory and something I really hope is not the case.

Sit and collect dust? I hope you're kidding. NRS is obviously working on MK11, if you pay any kind of attention. Ed Boon has already stated that the game they're working on is going to be the biggest and the best game they've ever created, hence the reason it wasn't ready for E3 this year.
