And I knew it would happen

Is Ok we have timeline f***ery with past people.

But why do we not see past selfs of Sub and Noob on story mode? And where are other characters like revenant Smoke or past Smoke? Reptile is a good example as well and Sindel. I get that they couldnt make them all NPC but them not being once on the story makes no sense

Other people who are alive in the past as well?

The problem with this game is that the story, demands this game be another MK Trilogy type game. With every character in it because with such a reality destroying threat why would these characters not be involved in such a cataclysmic event? Everyone from up to MK3 and then (including Quan Chi and Kenshi) To MKX should be here. But instead we have this sparse nonsensical roster and cherry picked cameos in the story. It makes no sense.

But the real problem, as I saw you raise in another thread, is the format of the story modes. It only allows for certain characters to have a light shined on them while others are left to sit in the background. They need to really find a new format. Something like what Killer Instinct did, where you choose a character and play out a short little story with them following their journey through the game. It doesn't have to be long, just a few fights and your done. Then once you're done with every character you understand the overall plot and have had the ability to explore each character intimately.

But they won't do that because the thing that is selling MK beyond the shock value is that cinematic story format. The fact that each MK game comes with an MK movie now is what sells MK. Not the characters, the writing or the fighting. So that story mode isn't going anywhere.

Yeah agreeing on everything.

It simply makes no sense and is weak... Even more if some.important stuff isn't even touched in the story.

But I will still ask again guy I haven't watched everything. Does Kuai Liang of the past really never appears in the story mode?

I was frustrated because they did not include Shang Tsung among the "returned" characters, I mean, all the pomp with the Tagawa reveal, and expectations, and "nostalgia-themed" elements, and then the only mention of Shang Tsung in all story is when Raiden says "we were just in the middle of Kung Lao defeating Shang Tsung and Quan Chi". For once we have THE Shang Tsung a decent story mode would desperately need and NRS fails to include him!
