Use this as a petition to BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL WAKEUP ATTACKS! These new "wakeup attacks" are absolutely trash! They're so easy to punish and predictable. Makes being in the corner in absolute nightmare! Goodluck fighting Kabal for sure! No but seriously, I need to be able to special move ON WAKEUP to get outta the corner. These new attacks are shit and have no armor. Netherrealm must have been smoking some HOT METH to implement the new system. Absolutely terrible.

Imagine crying about the current state of the game when it's an old outdated build, take a deep breath....relax and wait until the day 1 patch is applied. Otherwise it's their game they decided to go in a armorless direction if you don't like it speak with your wallet

Unlike "Scorpion takes too long to recover from spear", I'd call this a legitimate gripe.

Everything you said doesn't make his concern invalid or the idea that only having two wakeup options is/isn't trash. It hasn't been stated by anyone on NRS that wakeup attacks were being looked at or iterated upon. I only put stock in what I hear someone addressing and no one seems to have addressed this yet.

Shit, I'd like to do wakeup specials as well. Forget armor, just have one per character have invincibility frames on wakeup...like that other game...it's a lot like this one....Injustice 2. This in addition to the wakeups currently available (more options, keep people on their toes), plus a more active meter system, would do wonders for people trying to get back into the fray.

Keep in mind I'm having a ball with the game. Doesn't mean I don't have complaints.

It's almost as if developers expect you to be aware enough of your positioning that you learn to avoid being trapped in the corner in the first place so if you do let it happen they've set it up so you're gonna get punished for it.

I'll give you this since the other wakeup options were never touched upon in this particular thread. I say that, because those two options definitely don't cover every scenario and maybe, like so many I've faced, he doesn't know how to use the other defensive options. All the tools ARE there, but this doesn't make it any less boring (on a casual/spectator front). That said, I didn't realize this man wanted a petition.

Look, I'm all for more wakeup options (more fun in choice and generally, it feels good to buffer an input and mash out of an aggressive opponent), but we DO have enough and they seem to cover all different situations. Al the mechanics really test the player's ability to think about what they want to accomplish at any given moment and how well you're able to read the opponent. I truly feel at fault for every loss and am hype as fuck to etch out any win.

I mean, I am still trash but it sounds like you don't make very good use of the rolling mechanic to get up, that is a wakeup defensive option.

If you ask me, doing a wake up move should be a risk. Whether its the wakeup moves we have now or they change it to special moves, they shouldn't be too good. Wakeup moves should be "easy to punish and predictable." You are in the bad position when you get hard knock downed. Getting up shouldn't be easy, but it should be doable. In most fighting games, after you get hard knocked you are going to have to eat something unless you use a good chunk of resources and take a risk. After a hard knockdown your go to should be to block and look for something thats reactable.

If we had wake up special moves like you two seem to be suggesting I think the aggressor, the one who got the hard knock down, would be in a worse position then they are in the neutral. That's silly. They would basically be forced to block after getting a hard knockdown if the opponent has any meter.
