The character looks awesome, his backstory is cool. I don't understand.
His only true issue were the flies that stayed hovering around him, which made it difficult to play as him. Other than that, there wasn't much of a problem.
Honestly, it was simply Ed Boon saying "I hate Drahmin" and a bunch of mindless fans jumping on his bandwagon.
I wouldn't say people hate him. He's just...nothing. He's a non-character. A pointless roster-filler for a game that was trying to bring Mortal Kombat into a new era.
Yeah, conceptually he sounded great...the great warrior king whose crimes against humanity caused him a horrific fate in the Netherealm where he was strapped to the back of a giant demon for centuries as he was eaten alive by creatures of the Netherrealm. Very awesome.
But...when DA rolled around and all that concept remained exactly that...concept...he was nothing. None of that story element made it into the game, hence none of it actually exists canonically. He had NO combos. A handful of basic moves. A crap story. He was nothing. He could definitely be a character worth revisiting nwo that they've gotten so much better at fleshing out their characters...and also now that they have a company like WB which gives them time and a budget instead of Midway which gives them pocket change and a 2 month development deadline. In any case, the character itself isn't really hated, he's just pointless roster filler that never mattered.
Lack of imagination along with the constant condemnation from NRS themselves.
There is no reason this character shouldn't be a rock star among the legacy of the MK roster but NRS is famous for wasting opportunities so he will forever rot a abandoned fantastic concept, just like Havik and many others.
