Man, I want the game to be good and have all the kinks worked out, but a whole year almost? Damn.

Ya I feel the same way I'm happy and sad at the same time.

Yeah it's very nice they get so much time to do it. Wonder whats taking so long.
But I'm just affraid you I wont be as excited in 9 months as I am now.
They better save something special for last.

I personally think this is a good thing. With the new studio handling it, they're obviously going to want to put out the best product possible. They have to prove themselves (even though it's probably all the same people, I honestly don't know). More time to iron out kinks typically means a better ending product.
Unless we're talking about Duke Nukem.

maybe so they can work on konquest mode?

I hope they work on the game up to 2012 if needed. I want this game to be so good that the Japanese market shits itself.
... and then goes out and buys 500,000 copies of Mortal Kombat Deception.

Lord, I haven't been on in forever... but I thought I'd comment on this.
Yeah, my initial reaction was "damn it, I wanted this for Christmas!". However, not even 5 minutes later, I thought about how when the MK games were made under Midway since Deadly Alliance, they were all rushed to hell. It's because of being that rushed that:
1. Characters in Deadly Alliance only had one fatality each, and there were no stage fatalities.
2. They couldn't create character-based fatalities in Armageddon.
3. There were text-only endings in Armageddon
4. Returning characters in Armageddon had rehashed costumes/styles from Deadly Alliance and Deception (seeing an "Armageddon" pattern?)
5. There were few (if any real) extras in MK VS DC
The only games that did all right during the rush were Deception (two fatalities, hari-kiris, pseudo-stage fatalities, ton of extras including Konquest) and Shaolin Monks (the best of the "beat 'em up" MK games, despite storyline issues).
In the case of Deadly Alliance, after being "in hibernation" since MK4 (or MK Gold, if you want to get specific), they probably weren't aware of just how rushed they would be (especially since it was the first MK one-on-one fighter built from the ground up for consoles rather than the arcades), yet they got their bearings together for Deception, knowing exactly what it would take. However, when Armageddon came along, it really was a case of biting off more than could be chewed. I mean, EVERY character from EVERY Mortal Kombat prior to then? Unless they were given at least an extra YEAR, that game couldn't meet our expectations. It probably would've been safer just to call it "Mortal Kombat Hexalogy".
When it came to MK VS DC, however, the focus switched from quantity to quality. So while the gameplay was the best in years, there was very little outside of the actual gameplay to get into. There was a story mode, yes, but it wasn't very expansive, nor was it free roaming. So while Armageddon packed in everything while sacrificing gameplay mechanics, MK VS DC has improved gameplay, but still felt "skimpy".
Now, we come to "Mortal Kombat" (I still think it should be called "The Mortal Kombat", like the website name). With Warner Brothers being the ones in charge now instead of Midway, WB understands just how much time is needed to make a good game, and not just a quick buck. Let's face it, with Midway's financial crisis this past decade, they wanted to crank out MK games just in time for Christmas to make more money. However, with a big name like Warner Brothers, they realize it's about "the long haul" and making good games that will sell well over a long period, and not just in one "holiday burst". Plus, with good games comes returning customers for future (hopefully good) games.
So in short, while it would've been great to have MK for Christmas, I'll take the extra three month wait for something truly special.

I'm like some of the others, I rather that they take their time and do a fantastic job than rush it. Besides, the wait builds up anticipation and the game won't have to compete with so many of the other games that come out at X-mas. This means that more MK games will sell. More games that sell the more willing WB might be with funding other MK projects such as another Shaolin Monks like game, character history games like MK: Sub-Zero, or maybe a MK RPG.
I don't mind the wait as long as we are updated with vids and pics I just want the game to be perfect, no rushed parts or things left out.. man I can't wait for this, when I first saw the trailer last week I had a great feeling about this mk, i'll definitely be playing this for years to kome.
