Hey guys!

As you already know. In certain Arena's there are characters in the background. Examples being. Li Mei, Kenshi, Rain, Daegon, Reiko and Kira.

Ed Boon has stated that the characters shown in the current build are merely 'Placeholders'.

What is your stance on this?

Would you like the same old two characters to be shown fighting in the distance on The Pit II EVERYTIME you play that Arena.

Or.

Would you want them to rotate the characters seen in the backgrounds randomly. Like say they have 10-20 characters who fight one another or are shown in the game set randomly.

I know I'd definitely want the latter. Adss a nice little touch and a bit more variety to the stages. They don't have to change the way the fighters fight in the background per say as in The Pit II. Just change the character skins. No need to alter the choreography of the fight.

Thoughts, Opinions? Spill em'

Never though of that possibility, but it would be a cool addition. Make the stages more interesting.

I'd definitely want the characters to rotate. Seeing the same two each time would get old after awhile. Having them rotate adds a guessing and surprise element to the proceedings and gives the background a little more focus and life. Also, it makes you think of the possible match ups and you could even wonder what would happen if those match ups and fights were really happening. You get the chance for the background to tell a story then.

For Pit II, I'd want "Hornbuckle" and Blaze to fight each other but I wouldn't care if that weren't so... But I don't want them to have random characters pop up all the time (especially if the characters don't belong in that era like Li Mei and Kira, or when it makes no sense for the character to be in that arena)...

And someone brought up an idea of having your tag-team fighters fighting in the background of the pit, which i thought was a good idea... I hope they put that in...

I do like the idea of your Tag-Partner fighting with the opponent on the other side. Maybe they could have that featured in Tag-Team. It is a nice detail. But they'd have to synchronize it just right!

It would look weird having your partner all the way on the other side of the pit just suddenly appear out of nowhere.

Hopefully, this means Rain has another chance at being playable.

It isn't really that far fetched. Some of the fighters do have teleportation abilities

I wouldn't mind if the bg characters did interact with you while you were fighting. The Prison Cell stage in MKD worked out nice. Someone got grabbed you get a free combo. In khans Arena they should throw stuff from the stands maybe? Though it wouldn't be needed in this game, def an idea for future games.

All I know is that Reiko and Kenshi alternate in the Pit 2. But, yeah, I'd love to see different characters fight in the stages and rotate.

I would definitely like them to rotate the characters (which I think is whats going to happen).

It would be fun just for guessing who's next and wondering why those 2 are engaged in battle and who could win.

Something I would love (but I know it won't happen), is to see different kind of funny fight results in the background, like, have Nitara bitch slap Mokap and make him fall to his death, for example.

Or, say, have Meat running away like crazy because he is being chased by a horde of Tarkatans.

Just some examples.

PS: I haven't forgotten about your PM buddy! smile

I never thought about that before but definitely think it would be a nice little tweak in the game to have the characters rotate.
Tgrant put it perfectly.
What happens if I'm using Reptile to fight Night Wolf on "The Pit" and they had those two programmed two be fighting in the background of "The Pit?" That would seem a bit silly now wouldn't it?

I think it's a nice idea, but I don't want to see MK(D)(A) characters in every stage, so far we have seen them in The Church, Pit 2 and Kahn's Arena. A little nod to the last games is fine, but don't overdo it. So I think it's a good idea..but just one stage with the variety you mentioned.
