Mainly want to get your guys views on what to do with some characters. In this post I'm going off the assumption that this is a retelling of MK1-3 and not a reboot or sequel.

Just curious since a retelling can change a lot of things, is there any characters you would exclude? Would you leave out the really minor characters like Khameleon? How would you feel about new characters that weren't previously in any MK games being worked into the MK1-3 story? Would you mind at least a few characters from MK4-MKA being worked into the story?

As much as I would love for all the characters in MK1-3 to be in it at least plot wise, I feel like the best way forward may be to get rid of some characters who weren't really that important to the plot. I think characters like Khameleon would be more of a distraction rather than enrich the plot. Personally I think a few characters may have to go.

I also wouldn't really mind seeing a few new gen fighters working their way in. I mean from the MK Deception Konquest we find out that Kenshi wanted to compete in Mortal Kombat, I think it could easily be worked in that he made it to Shang Tsung's island and played some part in the tournament. He obviously had been looking for Shang Tsung for quite some time and it would be nice if he did something more plot wise than wander the Earth searching for Shang Tsung until MKDA started, that is over 10 years of doing nothing but wandering.

Personally I don't think it would be MK without a few new characters. Outworld is home to many races of beings that could be introduced, hell if they wanted to, they could even introduce more "chosen warriors" whose souls Shao Kahn could not take in his invasion to be in the game. I think it would be a good chance to diversify the cast a little, considering that every Earth character was basically from the US or the greater China region/Japan. Getting maybe some characters in from the middle east, South America or Africa could bring something fresh to the games too.
