Did Cyber Sub-Zero even die?
Did Cyber Sub-Zero even die?

He was in the Netherealm with the other zombies, so yes.
But yeah, all Sindel did to him was an uppercut, it makes no fuckin' sense. I've been joking since the game came out that the Lin Kuei must've put his off-switch on his chin for some dumb reason.

Razors,
Sindel must obviously knocked out some type of circuit in his body that killed him in his chin.

Yeah, that's a dumb place to put a circuit on a robot that gets punched for a living.

I hated that part, armour plated robot dies by being punched once.

Hah yeah, most of the bad guys were beat up like 5 times or more during the course of the story mode and kept walking around fine, yet one hit and Cyber Sub is down for the count.
Maybe Jax broke something while he was fiddling with him to turn him good...

Remember, Sindel
did take Shang Tsung's power, so she was a lot more powerful than normal.

She somehow fried his circuitry, so yeah, he bit it.
Yes he did indeed die, unceremoniously and rather ambiguously. Just like half the rest of the protagonists in that horrible executed scene. But his soul was lined up with the rest in hell so yep.
Unless that was Quan Chi just lying to Raiden and the defenders we saw were just manifested projections created by Quan and the earth defenders actually aren't completely brainwashed damned souls, at least at that point. But i doubt NRS is clever/devious enough to think of something like that. Even if it would be perfectly fitting for Quan Chi to do something like that to break Raidens' moral.

Shaun Himmerick saying that Quan Chi has an army of fallen Earthrealm warriors pretty much rules out your theory, although it would've been interesting.

Not quite what I meant. What I meant was that what Quan Chi had Raiden face at that point wasn't actually the souls of the Earth warriors and that their actual souls were somewhere else being tortured or indoctrinated by the brotherhood and Shinnok. Just to clarify I'm not saying that's what I believe was going on in that scene at all. I know that those really were their souls right there on display even it it makes no sense (Smoke should be able to escape death easily but whatever)
Lets break it down:
1st Kill
Kabal- Knocked him down, stomped on his chest and damaged his respirator
2nd Kill
Stryker- Brought him to his knees and possibly broke his nose into his brain
3rd Kill
Cyber SZ- Seems like she just short circuited his systems (questionable)
4th Kill
Jax- Got a heel stabbed into his throat
5th Kill
Smoke- Kick to the Cojones and a snapped neck
6th Kill
Jade- had her stomach removed
7th Kill
Kitana- Got a mothers beating, had part of her life sucked from her and apparently died from her wounds
8th Kill
Nightwolf- Sacrificed himself to destroy Sindel
That;s a lot of Hero's dead. But CSZ is the only questionable one. I mean yeah he was seen with Quan Chi later in the game but you mean to tell me Sindel hit him so hard that his short circuits caused him to die. I hope they ignore the whole CSZ twist and the SZ in MKX is Kuai Liang.

I hoped MKXs Sub-Zero was a new Cryomancer to avoid the bullshit from the last game, but unfortunately that has been debunked

He got punched so hard that he landed on his neck and broke it, killing him. Idk. It showed him with the other dead guys, so yeah, he died.

Gameplay and story segregation.
It is a thing.

Nothing has been 100% confirmed about identity of the "new" Sub-Zero.

I guess while on the subject of the good guys' deaths, yeah, Stryker's was pretty stupid. It's as if the time NRS spent to make him more badass in the story mode went completely for naught with a stupid little punch to the face. Seriously.

Palming someone's nose cartilage up into their brain is serious business IRL, man.
That said, I agree that any character they were trying to change or improve like Stryker or Smoke should not have been killed at all since it defeats the purpose of all that work.

Oh, so that's what she did.
I'm definitely aware of its lethality but I didn't get that impression at all watching the video; she looked like she was just punching him in the face.

Well it's a punch but it's right to the nose and that area off his face immediately turns blood-red, so I'm assuming she shoved his nose into his brain.

I thought there was an intro quote that suggested he was one or the other.
