I haven't been playing online, tried it first day it came out and connection wasn't great. So I just stick to offline play for time being.

yeah mine froze today and i have it installed WTF?

Is this possibly an overheating issue? Mine hasn't frozen once yet. My console is the old White 20gb version but was only used as a media streamer until MK was released.

Hasn't happened to me yet, hopefully I didn't just jinx it.

This happened to me too, with mortal kombat and fallout new vegas

Same thing has happened to me about 2 or 3 times since release, hopefully the first patch will address these issues..

Ok think i found a solution, someone over at xboxachievements.org posted that if you turn off all web kode notifications it should stop the game freezing after performing a fatality.

Just did a couple there with Kung Lao and no freezing. Not sure if it's completely solved the problem but haven't had a single freeze since.

Mine haven't froze at all. Lucky me.

It has twice today on me...today was the first time as well. 1st was on ladder after beating comp and second was while in training mode doing a fatality. Odd.

The game just started freezing on me a couple weeks ago now.
I have had it since launch and never had an issue with the game's performance outside of connection problems in the lobbys and so on.

I havn't played ince Freddy was released. A couple weeks ago I decided to play again when a friend went out and got the Complete Edition. We were able to play with no problems, just 2 'session no longer available...' errors.

The following day I decided I would play more to brush up.
I hadn't bumped the Xbox, ejected the disc or done anything else.
I booted up the game, got to "Press Start" and just before the words should have disappeared and Scorpion delivers the uppercut to SubZero... the game froze. And since then, I havn't been able to play the game.

I have checked the files on my harddrive and nothing seems corrupt.
I have cleared the cache.
I have installed the game to the harddrive.
I got the disc professionally cleaned despite no marks, scuffs or scratches on the disc.
And nothing seems to help.

I booted up the game while I was offline and the game seamlessly went from Press Start to the menu options and I was able to play! I turned on my Xbox Live while in game...
... But I couldn't play online. I could access "Xbox Live", I could see and enter rooms, I created a room and invited my friend into one... but I couldn't play against anyone. I kept getting "Unavailable" notices as immediate as I would send a request. My friend said he couldn't even send me a request because the option was blacked out.

I sent an email to WB but there response back was about Batman Arkham City with nothing to do with MK.
I posted on the official MK board but it seems no one is checking.

This was bought at launch as the special edition with the bookends. I bought the Season Pass and downloaded the skins pack, Skarlet, Rain, Kenshi, Freddy and each compatibility pack. I have been looking online since this started to happen but I have still not been able to diagnose a reason for these problems.

None of my other games have been having this issue so I will rule out "RROD" guesses.
It's maybe 3 years old now and it's a white Pro model just before they were phased out about the time the Elites dropped in price to the Pro price.

Does anyone know what's going on?! If I cant play anymore then I am just selling the damn disc. I love the game, although I get really frustrated online, but this shit isn't worth it.
And I dont feel like buying a new game (Complete edition) and having a new Achievement entry put in and starting from scratch all over again with my character progress and so on...

I just deleted all DLC content and the game still froze.
Is no one checking this board either?!

Well, all I can say is that I had this problem for about a day (on the PS3, mind you.) It kept freezing right after Scorpion punched Sub-Zero, or right after the menu popped up.

I was very tempted to delete my save data, but I went ahead and disabled my internet connection to the PS3 for several hours, (cleaned the disc), turned my PS3 off for a while, and then it worked later.
Obviously, I didn't go online for a day or two, but everything has been fine since.
I'm not really sure what to tell you.

I've never had it freezing on me and I've had it since April '11. The PS3 version, on the other hand might have frozen once or twice.

I came back to update... anyone who responded or cares (lol)

I got the game working again, by myself too. No help from WB and then there were a couple people, like the two of you, who just didn't really know what to say/do about my issue... and many other unhelpful searches online. Seems PS3 is plagued with the freezing issue with Xbox have minimal issues.

I had deleted all DLC content: Season Pass, Characters, Costumes... everything except the Kombat Pass.
That left 3 other files "Download Data", "Save Data" and "Player Data".

I deleted the safer of the 3, the "Download Data", cleared the cache again and rebooted the game and to my amazement the game booted up! I was in MK and I could play online!
I "Press Start" and FINALLY saw the "Looking for updates" screen and then BOOM! Uppercut and menu!
I went back to my game information and saw that it created a new "Download Data" entry.

I re-downloaded all compatibility packs and characters... but then the characters wouldn't show up in game although I had the files on the HDD.
I deleted everything again, this time downloading the Season Pass again before re-downloading all characters and costumes... and now everything is working perfect again.

It took me a few weeks but I figured it out... it was something simple.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a common fix for any X360 gamers who's game has been freezing as well.

Delete the "Download Data" and reboot the game.
