I think there will be more dlc for MK9 because...
There may be some possibilities:
1. Costume Pack #1? What about the second pack?
2. On the back of the komplete edition box it says add-on content.
3. When starting the komplete edition where it loads to the title screen, it says checking downloadable content, yet it says no new content available at this time.
I'm not gonna get my hopes up but this all seems very interesting.
btw my order of mortal kombat for the vita from Amazon should be arriving on April 28. I'm willing to answer anyone's questions regarding gameplay, changes, and stuff like that once I've tried out the whole game.

I'm with ya on that, notice how they keep saying we're not making or doing anymore DLC or we're done with DLC, that doesn't mean there isn't already DLC designed that hasn't been released yet (maybe waiting for Vita to be fair about it); and they keep going back and forth saying we wanted more and then say that we had the 4 DLC characters we wanted.
Boon and NRS are so sneaky with wording things so they don't give away suprises. I'm sure we'll get those costumes after the Vita players get their special chance, they already have extras that CAN'T Possibly be put on the PS3/X-Box.
They know they'd make a killing off of profits and won't have all the fuss that SFxTekken had since MK9 is the 1st fighter to have off-disk DLC characters.

I honestly think NRS is making a mistake by not making any more DLC. As I do think they will, if it doesn't.. well.
It could help keep the game alive, realistically where would you see the game 1 year from now? Dead. It's gonna be old. MK10 probably won't be out by then and if they do want to keep bringing in money the key is to make more DLC. Even if it is a few costume packs, it's cheap as fuck and people will buy them! I don't understand why NRS can't comprehend that. Looking forward to some of the ideas they have in the future.

I think it would be a good idea to charge for a new costume pack (Vitas) on regular console editions of MK9 but to make it free on the Komplete Edition.
They'l either sell DLC or sell Komplete Editions, both of which is good.

Most likely not. They would NEVER be free.
Maybe will be released in the future, though.

I definitely think they should do at least one more costume pack... with all the Vita costumes in it. Hell, that could probably even be split into 2, if they really wanted to milk it.
It would be -nice- if the extra challenge tower missions became DLC, but I think more than a few of them rely on Vita hardware and mechanics... so they'd probably take extra work to convert, which at this point I think is an unrealistic expectation.
I'd love more brand new content, but I think that's an even more unrealistic expectation.
I do however think that they should have kept releasing DLC. Capcom really milked the hell out of Street Fighter and it worked for them.
Plus I don't have a Vita, and don't plan to get one for a while... so I'm just bitter as a huge MK fan, who's been behind this game since day 1... getting LESS content for buying the original version of the game the earliest.

It's been a year, so I honestly wouldn't mind an SSFIV: Arcade Edition type update, but t would have to be dlc. A new disc would be idiotic.
Who's down with it? They could have easily been working on new characters and content.....although it is highly unlikely.

1. Fair point. They numbered it, so perhaps there will be another pack.
2. Another fair point.
3. That's just the way the game is made.
I don't think we'll get the vita costumes, but I'll remain hopeful.

It wouldn't take... much. To add the Vita costumes.
Normally, as someone who studied this kind of thing in college, I don't make such claims, because normally it WOULD take more than people assume it would... but in this particular case, it seems most of the work is already done. This game seems to lend itself to "drag and drop" (for lack of a better term) skinning... we see several examples in the game where models and skins/movesets of characters are swapped. And all the costumes work in the Vita, so clearly their own individual kinks have been worked out.
I'd bet heavily that a couple, such as as MK2 Mileena, were probably ready to go a year ago, but just never found their way to release.
I'm assuming at this point it's more Microsoft and/or Sony Red Tape that's holding extra DLC up than actual work. I know they have certain requirements and limitations in place for developers looking to add DLC... I'm guessing starting the ball rolling again is just more of a headache to deal with than it's worth for Boon and his team, at this point.

From a business stand point, I think it'd be rather stupid of them not to release the vita costumes to the console owners. Everyone would buy them... so by not doing so they're only shooting themselves in the foot by missing out on that extra money (I know that they already HAVE plenty of money... but isn't the point of any business to make MORE money?)
I can understand them wanting the Vita to have any and all selling advantages right now... but after MK for the vita as been out for a while, why not add the costumes as DLC for the console owners? It's all good for them. Besides the Vita version of MK will still have enough packed in it to separate it from it's counterparts. If people want those new Tower Missions they'll still have to buy the vita version.
Not asking for the world here, a lot of us would likely just be happy with the remaining alt costumes (Which really should have been DLC all along.) I don't get why the Vita having a version of MK has to mean that any and all support for the console MK has to be dropped.

DLC is a contentious issue for me because of having VERY limited internet access and no access via Xbox. so far i've obtained the free skins packs because my flatmate was good enough to take my console to his brother's place. Also i take issue to paying for add-ons becaus I've already bought the damn game once, why should i have to pay again and again? to unlock Blaze in previous games i had to earn it through gameplay skill, not though a healthy bank balance.
nevertheless, I then planned to buy KE just so i'd have everything on one disk if (deity of preference) forbid, something should happen to the save file on the hard drive.
Now post-vita release, there is MORE kontent rendering the term 'Komplete edition' moot. (that's polite talk for 'bare faced lie'.)
I think they owe it to fans to make the other content available (skins and challenge tower missions preferably, but i see how the missions would be extremely difficult to pull off). Why i feel strongly about it is this: we all hate console-specific content that excludes others. It's just unfair.
So to sum up: DLC is a pain but in the interests of updating and competing in the modern marketplace, if you must have it, make it available for ALL consoles, for FREE, and have ALL content.
the characters Kenshi, Rain, Skarlet, Freddy AND Kratos (for us Xboxers), the extra fatalities and the extra skins (from before and after Vita release).
I know this is most likely never going to happen but i thought a rant was necessary, it's been building up for a while and here was the perfect topic to add to.

This.
I have never seen the fans acting this stupid. You are starving ... for costumes ? Fuc**en cheaply made skins ? Arent you bored of the already made ugly retro ? You have made the team get proud of them and they now proudly talk of retro costumes as being something great. MK9 started good but I quickly got bored of it, it is empty, the art style and the backgrounds sucked. Their way of hyping Mileena's costume as being a great reward sucked and yet they have done that again with MKVita. Since when unlocking Alts became a surprise ?
Call of Duty Black Ops 1 had 10x more secrets than MK9. I waited to see whether the team would fix some of that in MKvita and they turned to do the same mistakes again.

It's stupid to want alt costumes for those who don't have them (when every other main character on the roster has at least one alt)?
Personally I could care less about the retro ninja costumes. I was mainly wanting the alt costumes of Skarlet and Kenshi. Which really isn't too much to ask, is it?
And sure, if you're going to throw those in... then why not all of the skins? However, I stress again, I'd be happy with just Skarlet's and Kenshi's alts.
Since Rain didn't really get an alt (I'm not counting the retro MK3 Ninja garb) and neither did Freddy.. I'm not really too concerned about them.

You have a point!!
But I agree with ErmasCo on the issue of alternate costumes. Alternate costumes are a standard feature of most games now, in fact most games, especially fighting games, don't even require you to unlock alternate costumes..
Mileena's Flesh Pits costume isn't the "Best Alternate Ever" and it's a completely inadequate reward for beating the Challenge Tower. Especially for people like me, who beat the Challenge Tower without skipping any challenges..
I definitely expected a greater scope of rewards for completing the Challenge Tower..
However Mortal Kombat (2011) is still engaging and highly enjoyable.. It does require more DLC, to keep it fresh and engaging while MK10 is in production. Especially if Boon and Co are telling the truth, when they say production on MK10 won't begin for at least a year..

Comparing black ops secrets to mortal kombats secrets is a really bad example because black ops was a terrible game they spent more time on the secrets then on the game itself.
