But Kano and Sonya are most likely still going to be playable.

There are many characters featured in the backgrounds in various levels and this is well known.

-Rain and Meat were seen in "The Church"
-Kenshi, Daegon and Reiko (perhaps another) are seen in the background bridge of "The Pit II
-Kira, Kitana and perhaps more were seen in Kahns Kolloseum

I still havent seen any peeking in "The living forest" but I would bet we will see something at one point. This does not confirm or deny characters as Hector Sanchez stated that its pretty much an easter egg for veteran players.
