I think it would be awesome if the new MK game came with a second disc that had HD ports of MK1, 2 & 3! since the new game is a "retelling" of those classic games i think it would be a perfect fit!

thoughts?

HD digitized actors don't work. It won't happen.

I know one thing is obvious when I play the older games, they are a bit more stiff and a little less responsive than the newer games are, they are still very fun don't get me wrong but if they did a "remix" of those games I would hope they'd smooth out the gameplay a bit and make them widescreen.

One quick question, why can't they do high def digitized characters? couldn't they just go back and clean up the old ones? I know it's not the same as hand drawn characters but why couldn't this be done? I'm not trying to argue I'm just curious.

agreed, it would also be good if they worked out a few of the kinks that the older games had

& im not to sure exactly why HD digitized actors dont work

Digitized actors in HD are fine. As a person with experience making 2d games I can tell you that if there was an issue with doing an MK HD Remix, the graphics wouldnt be the problem so long as the original source images are large enough, which they most likely are. The team prolly had to scale them down back in the day due to size limitation but as long as they still have the originals, they're good to go on that end.

I doubt they still have the originals saved somewhere.

I don't. If Ed can have a Goro figure stashed then they might have the original photos backed up. If bands can keep their original tapes from albums recorded decades ago, then some hard drive somewhere can store the mk games. Hell, those photos from the the first 3 games could fit on a little external hard drive now.

None of this is to say that the MK team would be willing or care to do anything like this, but if they can still make ports of UMK3, they still have some data lying around.

It would be cool if they remixed MK1 and MK3.
They already have a version of MK2 download-able for $6.00 in the Playstation Store.

It would be nice though to have mk 1 and UMK3 both remixed in full HD at 60 fps with all the animations cleaned up and the characters smoothed out and jaggy free

It would take far to long to do a hd version of mk 1,2 and 3.
Boon and his team need to concentrate 100% on making mk9 the best it can be anything else is a distraction. You dont want to split a section of your team to work on a side project.
