New Characters
New Characters
Since they have not been denied its possible for new characters to be in MK9. My question is what kind of characters would you like to see? personally id like to see a playable and balanced big damage dealing character who is also very slow. Pretty much like the zangief of MK (gameplay wise NOT looks wise). But tell me what your looking forward to.

All I want are characters with character. Something interesting about them that says, "Hey, I belong in the Mortal Kombat Universe."
I really do believe there will be about 4 brand new characters that make it in to the game.
There is still a few shocks coming I have that gut feeling.
95% of the cast will be mk 1-3 era I expect the last characters to be revealed will be brand new.

Turkish oil wrestler! joking.
I want to see a samurai character similar to Hotaru but more Japanese-ey. They need to make him dark and mysterious, not reveal his face, powerful, and menacing.
Japanese and Chinese influence on characters have been done to death by now, maybe something along the lines of Kratos the god of war? some kind of undead spartan with armor. Yes I'm obsessed with armor.

I personally would like to see a bare knuckle boxer,
MK has never had a balrog style fighter who has no kicks whatsoever just brutal fist combos.
Think it would make an intresting addition to the mk roster. Would fit in great with the xray moves for sure.

I'd like to see a character that "shouldn't exist."
What I mean to say is a character that is alive solely because of the time-jump, like Sonya's partner that was supposed to be killed by Kano. Or, possibly, a character from some (possibly alternate) future who's (for whatever reason) swept up in the time-jump, like the future child of Kitana and Liu Kang.
I think that would be cool.
I'd also like to see a character of Middle-Easter origin. Maybe someone who's involved in the Israeli-Palestine conflict. Maybe someone who knows Krav Maga.
Power-wise, the one thing we haven't really seen yet (that I'd really like to see), is someone who can become intangible. A special move that make your opponent run through you, or something where you can run through (and thereby harm) your opponent. ::shrugs:: Coming up with superpowers isn't my strong-point.

Some kind of creature that was created by the time shift, can alter time and space around him or her.
Sending his opponents projectiles back at them.
Can pass through his opponents by bending time.
Bit weird I know.

I'd like to see a werewolf based character. The series has a vampire, why not a soul stealing werewolf based off of the Egyptian god Anubis.

Anubis had a jackal head, not a wolf head.
We have a soul-stealing character: Shang Tsung.
We have a character who's the Lord of the Underworld: Shinnok.
We have a character who's wolf-like: Nightwolf.
How about another Tarkatan. Like Baraka's second-in-command or something. And they could design him differently than a normal Tarkatan (like give him scars, different head spikes, different eyes, etc.)
It's not that original, but at least it'll give the Tarkatans more depth.

They should develop Baraka first before they start giving him a lackey. For #&¢*$ sake, Baraka is a lackey. Having a lackey of a lackey is just...weird.

Well we have Mileena who is half Tarkatan.

I wouldn't mind it if in the time jump, Baraka's second-in-command kills him for whatever reason, and usurps leadership of the Tarkatan tribe, because he sees too much of a desire to follow in Baraka. That could be interesting. I have a feeling that so many people would complain about it, though, even though this new character would be more ambitious, automatically a character with more depth, and essentially play very similarly to Baraka.
Sub-bosses have also come to mind. Goro, Kintaro and Motaro all served during this period. I can't see Goro being back. He seems like the default the MK Team go with, but let's assume Raiden makes sure he is dead in MK1. Kintaro would then be the logical choice to step-up. Boon hates him, though, for whatever reason. While Kintaro seems like a logical choice (with Motaro being left out because the centaurs never earn favour), I could also see Kintaro being killed and a new sub-boss being pushed forward. Perhaps even King Gorbak himself?
I don't particularly want to crowd things with too many Earthrealm fighters, but one character I've always wondered about is the Grand Master of the Lin Kuei. I assume he'd be a lethal martial artist, and have a somewhat cunning mind. He survived Shao Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm, and was only eventually killed by Sektor. It'd be somewhat interesting to see how the MK Team does him, Dragon Medallion and all, as a character in the Mortal Kombat universe.
Perhaps we will even find out who Hornbuckle is meant to be?

They can develop Baraka and his lackey at the same time, how about that.
Having a lackey for a lackey could be weird, but from what I understand Baraka is the leader of the Tarkatan horde, so he must have underlings.
Not that we need another Tarkatan, I just thought that it wouldn't hurt much. It'll be better than another Hsu Hao or Kobra. As for Mileena, she isn't really a Tarkatan, she's just a half-Tarkatan mutant.
I want a "hidden" character (maybe even more than one!); one that will bring many questions... Make him a brand new character that will appear at random giving hints of his possible background and how to challenge/unlock him like the good old days.

I don't want new characters, since MK4 they fuckin suck. Well mainly the ones MKD. They were unimaginative drivel.

I like the idea of the lin kuei grandmaster. Seeing another lin kuei warrior with some unique power like Sub and Smoke would be really cool. It could also open up some more lin kuei story potential. Maybe he could even be the warrior turned robot boon was talkin about

I want a Scottish Hitman, with a thick-ass accent. The reason he joins the cast is because he had a clash with Sonya years back, has a crush on her, and decides to follow her around like a stalker. That includes Death Tournaments.
His normal outfit would be like a modernized William Wallace get up in Braveheart. Just say that he wears it to be ironic and make people take him for granted before he kills them.
He uses guns and swords, like Deathstroke did. Nothing fancy like bombs and missiles, just stuff that gets the job done.

That's...slightly mistaken wording.
Everyone on Earth but Raiden's chosen ones and Nightwolf's tribe had their souls stolen. The entire population of the Earth died.
When Kahn was defeated, though, they all got their souls back and the world returned to normal.
So he didn't "survive" so much as he, like everyone else in the world, was restored.
