OK!! I hate the Noob Saibot hidden fight, the 1000 Koins reward doesn't reflect how hellaciously difficult this fight is. I never beaten him and he's hidden character I'm mostly likely to end up fighting, due to my preference for evasion over blocking!!

I'd actually taken to blocking deliberately, when Noob appeared on the temple stage, to avoid this fight..

So that seemed to work for a while!!

Yesterday however, I was blocking but got a flawless victory and had to face Noob. I was confused but excepted it with good grace and then got completely trounced, as usual!!

After completing the ladder, I did another ladder.. Got the temple stage and again Noob made an appearance, that in itself was unusual. This time I blocked and didn't get a flawless victory, But I still had to fight and get PWND by Noob..

So I am I going to have to fight him now, every time he makes an appearance on the temple stage?? No matter what gameplay mechanics I introduce to the fight!!

You can also leave rtf's first four steps and perform the "win" step only.
[Works with many I hear.]

Currently playing MK 2011 as Jade, Mileena and Stryker!! As I'm working on getting the My Kung Fu Is Stronger achievement..

But my actual point was:

Why is this fight unlocking even though I'm using block, and not blocking is supposed to be the key??

I thought that the Flawless Victory was the trigger, after blocking and still unlocking the fight!! But later I managed to still unlock the fight even though I blocked and took a few hits..

Mostly, I just duck block and uppercut him after he teleports. That seems to do the trick.

Although, I have never beaten him. Something about just doing one move never seems comfortable with me so I tend to try to lash out an actual fight... That keeps getting me every time.

So, I guess we just have to stick with the duck block and uppercut for when the next time I see him.

It's easy with most characters. You need to anticipate his teleport, block and do your characters best punish-type combo. I use Sub Zero and just a quick 2,2 freeze and then full combo. Ive beaten him on expert this way and it's so easy that it gets annoying because his health takes twice as long.

Again!!

I'm not looking for advice, tips etc. I simply want to know why my efforts to avoid this fight are not paying off??

This fight is unlocked by not blocking, so I block deliberately to avoid it. But it's starting to seem like this fight will unlock no matter what I do.. The only thing I haven't tried yet, to avoid this fight, is losing!!

Is the Hidden Noob fight unlocking for anybody else, even when they block and generally go out of their way to avoid it??

Here's your solution:

Play Tag Ladder. Problem solved

Oh, I thought you were just looking for advice. But, to be honest, he pops up no matter what I do when I fight on the Cathedral stage. Despite that I don't normally block, whenever he's just in his Monkey stance or whatever in the background, I know that I'm going to be playing against him if I win.

But to be honest, I'm going to Take Kunglao's suggestion, if you don't want to fight this guy, you might as well just play with Tag Team mode. He won't show up there.

No wonder I never get to fight Shadow MKII Noob Saibot anymore. He only shows up in 1v1 Ladder.

Doesn't look like his Monkey stance to me, it looks like the same stance he uses in Kombat. It appears similar to his MK1 stance as Sub-Zero.

Something I've been wondering about this Noob though: what's his costume? I've fought him before but him being all black makes it very hard to distinguish. Is he wearing the MK2 costume or the MK1 costume? Because I faced him long before I downloaded Noob/Smoke's MK2 suit and I'm just wondering if the Classic Noob fight has always used the MK2 Model.

I remember checking it with Noob frozen and confirmed it to be that of 1.
The MKII costumes were at least partially modeled beforehand because you can see Reptile and Smoke's MKII masks in their respective achievement pictures. Edit: Yes, it's MK1. I checked a video of it.

He's wearing an MK1 costume, I believe.
In this video (despite the color glitch,) it's just an MK1 costume.
It's extremely hard to tell with his normal color, though.

Regarding the OP's question, maybe the "no blocking an attack" requirement allows one or two before you fail it, or maybe you did a breaker (not sure if those count as block, though.)
Weird.
