Story Mode Resemblances
What kind of similarities can you find between MK/DC cutscenes and MK9 cutscenes? I can see similarities there, but I wonder if we could find more together. One thing is that in both stories we follow Raiden as he grows his pack until this big group fight. I wonder if this is how MKX will go too.The beginning of MK8 was similar to the ending of MK9 having an orange portal, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Raiden and the Elder Gods (in some level.)Even small finds are fine to post here.
See the MK9 story mode respectively via this link.

I laughed my balls off during both.

That is a good point, they're both ridiculous in their own right.
To clarify, I didn't bring Injustice: Gods Among Us for examination because it doesn't resemble these two Mortal Kombat games nearly as much as they resemble each other. Well, Ares illustrated these pictures, similar to Quan Chi, to convince somebody and Wonder Woman faced a gunman in both MK/DC and Injustice but that's about it for the most part. I have made a list about on-topic notes and I will post it in a matter of days. Some notes about the two videos from the opening post
- Shang Tsung is an uninvited guest in the Wu Shi Academy in both story modes, followed by Tarkatan interference (Baraka/soldiers).
- Sub-Zero and Smoke bow to Raiden in a very similar fashion.
- Quan Chi was the 'wisest' in both. (Then again, 'chi' means 'wise'.)
- Superman X-rays Scorpion's chest during MK8. Is this where Boon got his recent idea about the X-ray special moves for MK9 from?
- Baraka is only a grunt.
- Raiden's chapter comes last, during which the synergy between him and Liu Kang breaks, culminating into a fight which Raiden regrets right after. "What have I done?"
- Raiden wants to ally with his enemy against a greater enemy.

MKvsDC was garbage, MK2011 was actually good. Freaking perfect when compared to its predecessor.

"In their own right" i.e. in different manners. Mortal Kombat 9 did certainly have its share of ridiculous moments.
Overall MK2011 was really good, when you take the gameplay and everything else into account, that is for sure.

That's how the Lin Kuei always bow/salute. It was Sub-Zero's win pose in the Deadly Alliance thru Armageddon era, and other Lin Kuei did it when addressing him in MKA Konquest.

Yes.
It could be that the Shirai Ryu members had an alike salutation, a variation of the Lin Kuei version if you will, insofar as Takeda once was in the LKC.0

Both MK vs DC and MK9 were disposable fluff, but at least VS asks for slightly fewer 'gimmies' in explaining its story.
