Will Noob Saibot return... And if yes how?
02/28/2014 03:01 PM EST
Well in MK 2011 story mode he was caught by the SoulNado... So what do you think... Did he survived it and if yes how? And how will it effect him?

Will his "shadow" split and Bi-Han will maybe return to the original Sub Zero while Noob will be a character in his own or what do you think is planned for him.

I think he will be very important in the next entry seeing his whole connection to Scoprion and Kuai-Liang... And he of course has a goal on his own as well.

I can't see him being just a simple "follower" of a villian without something bigger in his mind

It could have "purified" the Elder Sub-Zero though this is just speculation.

Well, I kinda don't see him splitting into two different characters as long as Kuai Liang is still in the picture. I mean, it did work nicely to use Sub-Zero's costumes as both brothers. But I don't see it happening UNLESS for some reason, Kuai Liang is to be killed off and Bi Han magically comes back, thus having some sort of Sub-Zero character in the series.

I would like Noob to come back, they did a great job with is character, but it's a bit odd on how they "killed" him, that is if he even is dead. All we know is that he just evaporated in the Soulnado, we don't know if it actually killed him or maybe have teleported him somewhere that we don't know?

Maybe he could show up at the end of the next game's story and be the next threat? I don't know.

If Scorpion could survive a Soulnado, so can Noob Saibot.

Scorpion was saved by the Elder Gods... And this is why I think maybe Bi-Han will return at Sub-Zero being split up by "Noob"

Just think about it

Bi-Han = Sub-Zero
Kuai Liang = Cyber Sub-Zero
Noob = Saibot a character on his own

Bi-Han is a boring and redundant character when he's not Noob Saibot. Being an asshole so massive that death turned him into an evil demon that LOVES being a demon is the ONLY thing he has going for him.
There is no good in this man. This is a dude who was TOLD to his face multiple times "you will go to Hell when you die and become Quan Chi's slave unless you change your ways" and he DIDN'T CHANGE HIS WAYS. He IS evil. He LIKES being selfish, and a merciless murderer, and laughing at the misfortune of others, and just generally being a prick to people. There is nothing to separate him from. If you split him into two, the two would ACT THE SAME. He IS Noob, he became that way because he already WAS that way. "Saibot" is not a spirit possessing him and making him act a certain way, it's an inanimate fucking object. It's JUST his shadow, which he has the power to manipulate like a goddamn Green Lantern construct except made of darkness instead of green light.
So as Sub-Zero, he'd still just be Noob in personality, but with ice powers instead of shadow powers...and that's stupid because whether he's a zombie, a robot, both, or neither, Kuai Liang is STILL AROUND, and eventually Frost will come back too, we don't need another fuckin' ice guy.

So anything that would split him into two characters or turn him back into Sub-Zero would be a terrible idea.

Personally, I'm all for saying the Soulnado Nightwolf kicked him into sent him to another realm instead of killing him.

Like Chaosrealm, where he meets Havik, like in his arcade ending, perhaps?

I'd rather Noob Saibot be Bi-Han permanently. Besides... I feel that him being back Sub-Zero will be worse.

There' won't be any good guy Sub-Zero. Kuai Liang is the best Sub-Zero.

Kinda hard for Noob Saibot to be Bi-Han when, y'know, Bi-Han is a charred skeleton. The day Noob Saibot was spawned from the Netherrealm, Bi-Han technically ceased to be. He's nothing but a wraith with a black hole for a heart and soul now. Just my two cents,

Have Noob and Smoke become a hybrid demon? Smoke "died" then evaporated into his ethereal state and vanished. Through his travels, he meets up with a familiar ally, whom is injured from coming through the other end of the soulnado. They both merge into an unstoppable force. Problem solved?!

I'm not against the idea of bringing back Noob-Smoke from MKD, but I don't think there needs to be some metaphysical explanation. Smoke is dead. Noob is a Netherrealm general. Noob uses Smoke as a puppet sidekick in battle. Anything more complicated than that is going to feel contrived.

Also, make their gameplay separate. If NRS wants to make a third gameplay slot for Noob-Smoke where their movesets are partially combined, that's great, but don't do that IN PLACE of the two characters. This is not 2004. They have the time/resources to implement all 3 options, especially given that the aesthetics, combos, and specials will be created regardless (and will be working on a design foundation from MK2011).

But again, I wouldn't mind revisiting the concept. The only problem I had with Noob-Smoke back in the day is that A) it forced me to play with Noob competitively, which cheapened the experience, and B) Smoke had a drone personality and essentially contributed nothing to the story. And you know what? I would have been okay with even that if they had brought the story thread to a dramatic conclusion. Sub-Zero runs into Smoke after ten years in MKA, and he doesn't give a single fuck that his best friend is a nano-demon. I loved the plot point in Ashrah's ending, but that essentially went nowhere.

I wouldn't really miss him if he didn't return, but he is welcome if he underwent some change in appearance, like getting some non-ninja form. Like the younger Sub Zero came to MK3 unmasked, so could Noob take off his mask and attire as well.

I find it strange no one ever alluded the possibility of Noob and Scorpion teaming up. He was allied to Smoke with whom he hardly shared any similarity except their 'ex-human' biography.

All I'm getting at is that Smoke is dead and he turned into his ethereal self and collided with particles of Noob, after he came out at the other end of the soulnado...per say. So being merged together, Smoke is in his demon form as shows in his ending and since it's black...Noob is part of him.
In MKD, they were both separate characters but together (not merged into one.
Hope you know what I'm trying to say here. I too don't want them as they were in MKD. My explanatory is different.

I do like your thought...

Well, "ally" isn't really the right word. It's more like Noob made Smoke his right-hand slave. In that regard, it fits the storyline perfectly because it completes the character triangle of Sub/Noob/Smoke. It was Noob's way of saying "Hey Kuai Liang, I made your best friend my bitch, lol." It was the first time in the series that Noob, the super evil shadow wraith, did anything actually evil other than follow orders.

As for Scorpion, I just can't see those two characters getting along. The way Scorpion is in MK9, it's hard to say, but I can't see Scorpion having anything but contempt for Noob Saibot in the previous timeline.

I know I'm in the minority on Smoke's ending, but I've always held the position that the monster is not actually a demonic form. That was just his shapeless nature trying to re-establish itself back into human form and then kinda looking jacked up in the transition. Kinda like how the T-1000 has multiple arms when it gets thrown in the molten steel.

But if that is actually Smoke's demon form... it would depend on the character goals and ultimate resolution. When Noob-Smoke was first announced WAY back in the day, my theory was that Smoke used his his ethereal form to detach from his cybernetic body (which is possibly consistent with him being an Enenra). My assumption was that he attached his elemental form to Noob symbiotically to prevent him from harming the younger Sub-Zero, creating this interesting compromise of goals. It would have made the characters more powerful overall and therefore forming an awkward alliance between two people who couldn't stand each other.

So if we took the metaphysical merger route, I would want it done in a way where the motives of both characters somehow remained relevant.

"Smoob" could become a nasty addition, no doubt on that. I neither liked the direction Tomas was going in the old timeline, so I hope that we won't have to revisit that. Tom should stick with the good guys more this time.

What comes to Bi-Han, he was the first character of the Cryomancers' descendants we got, so he is always the OG Sub-Zero and in that aspect he wouldn't be redundant as Elder Sub-Zero but the others after him kind of are, in my opinion. Whether or not returning to his Cryomancer roots would be wise is another thing though, given his feats as the dark bro.

You'll get no argument from me on this. Better than bringing back some incarnation of Sub-Zero for the millionth time. He's as equally redundant as Scorpion.

See, it's not that I didn't like the direction. It was just too little too late (the storyline should have happened in MK4; that would have made WAY more sense, but I can't fault Tobias for not writing a story point that Vogel created).

If the story had resolved itself, it would have been beautiful. If you look at the MKD storyline, it seemed like the story DID resolve itself. I thought Ashrah's ending was certainly canon given that in Shujinko's own ending, Smoke is standing right next to Sub giving Shujinko his powers. Noob is nowhere to be seen, which tells me Noob got bodied by Ashrah (with Noob's place on the MK9 tierlist, I'm not surprised).

It's pretty clear they kept him bound to Noob in MKA because it was the easiest way to assimilate him in the story mode. That's my theory, at least.

I'm probably the only one who feels this way, but I would love to have Bi-Han in the game as a non-canon character. I'm a huge proponent of having characters with similar movesets who favor a slightly different style (EX: Ryu being a footsie character and Ken being a rushdown character despite that they're both shotos).

That's very unfair to say, we haven't really seen much of him as just Bi-Han. Yeah he had his own game, over a decade ago, things have changed. He hasn't had the opportunity to really develop as a character like everyone else has. Personally, I think it would be very interesting for him to be Sub-Zero again and have the soulnado event slip him of his Noob Saibotness, great idea.

What I didn't like was how Smoke was almost like a grunt in MK:D and MK:A. On the positive side, he got to be a subboss in the former. Another name I coined up for the future dark alliance would be Noob Samot.

I disagree that "things have changed". The Mythologies cutscenes may have been a bit cheesy and poorly acted, but they STILL rank among some of the better writing MK has had.

And between MKM, Noob's Deception ending that reveals he's Bi-Han for the first time and talks about how he felt about his brother before dying compared to how he feels as a demon, and the few scenes he's in before Scorpion kills him in MK9, I would say that's been enough content to explore what his character was like before he became Noob perfectly adequately.

Every depiction consistently shows the same personality. At this point, the way he thinks has been portrayed and described enough that more screentime really isn't going to bring anything new to the table. Despite not having all that much dialogue, there really isn't much mystery left to him anymore, we KNOW this man now.

And all of the text and footage of him that exists completely supports the premise that all there is to Bi-Han's personality is being a dick. He LIKES being a dick. He wouldn't change or clean up his act if given a second chance because he doesn't WANT to be a nice guy, he WANTS to kill the helpless and get paid doing it.

Sektor is exactly the same way and yet you never see people run around going "I'd like to see Sektor turned back into a human and become one of the good guys". So why the fuck is Bi-Han any different?

I wonder if all the Bi-Han-as-Sub-Zero fans are people who, when they were little, mistakenly thought in MK1 that "Scorpion is the bad guy and Sub-Zero is the good guy", and are now unable to let go of their nostalgia and cope with the fact that Scorp was the good one all along and adaptations lied to them, or they were thinking of the wrong brother and didn't realize it 'cause they were too young to tell the two Sub-Zeros apart, so now they're trying to make the things they thought when they were kids come true.

Despite that I wouldn't mind seeing Mythologies get a touch up if they ever decide to redo the game, I just don't think there's really a real purpose that Bi Han needs to become human. I don't see what he would do other than what, trying to get revenge on Scorpion for killing him? That's the only thing I see if he ever regains his human self.

But I am for the idea of seeing Mythologies again. I thought it was a good game despite it's challenges.
