Mortal Kombat 9 PS3 version has some frame issues in X-Ray attacks, but Xbox 360 version doesn't have any issue with it. As a big fan of the game I think this much dynamic game shouldn't have an issue like this, because it's pretty much frustrating. Plus, not all of the characters have this, it happens on some of the characters only.

Sometimes the attack simply does not work, with either input. It's strange

Can you provide some examples of characters who have the issue? Also, is it only situational--for example in a specific combo? I've played quite a bit of this game on PS3, and haven't noticed anything outside of the norm.

Thank god I'm not the only one who notices. Yes the x-rays can be slow at times, but every once in a while, the frame rate will take a huge dip.

-It tends to happen more often when you perform them randomly outside of combos.
-I've also noticed that it happens a lot with Sub-Zero and Smoke, who coincidently are capable of charging the attack.

I hope this eventually gets fixed because online, it feels like an eternity waiting for the animation to finish.

Pretty sure I do remember Hector explaining in a video months ago that the x-ray effect (and the speed at which it occurs) will be randomly determined. I have the game on PS3 and my best friend has it on Xbox360 and both our games change the speed of the x-ray attack at random... sometimes it's as quick as a regular move, other times it's almost in slow motion...

It is NOT system dependant.
It is NOT character dependant.
It is NOT combo dependant.

NRS have explained that this is HOW THE GAME WAS INTENDED TO BE.

not sure if this is related at all but has anybody else noticed an x-ray simply not happening AT ALL?

a couple of times online now with kung lao i've performed his x-ray in the corner after the spin move, the move has connected, the meter emptied and then....they just fly out of the corner as if i'd uppercut them? is this supposed to happen ? confused

^ No, it shouldn't be happening.

BUT

All sorts of crazy shit happen online. The other day, I did Sektor's enhanced tele-uppercut. That move has two punches in it, if the first one hits the second one automatically connects. So I did the move and the first punch hit the opponent but the second one missed (the animation was there, but the move simply missed). I was like WTF, my opponent did the uppercut and won the match. Beautiful...

wow

I saw this happen in one of the tournament videos. And it was with Kung Lao also I believe...

Hey guys, if you really tell there is no problem then probably you didn't watch carefully or you are already playing on Xbox360, however there are really frame issues in PS3 version on X-Ray attacks. I tried it on 3-4 different PS3s and all of them had the same issue. I think it'd better to inform developers about this: info@netherrealm.com

No. There. Isn't.

As I stated above, NRS has stated the slow-motion effect of the x-ray attacks is deliberate and randomly activated.

And for your information, the PS3's GPU is capable of higher framerates at high resolutions than the Xbox360's GPU. The slowdown on the PS3 is NOT an issue with the GPU, it's simply the game doing what the game was designed to do.

Who cares about the X-ray slowdown, the real issue I see being presented here are X-rays not working at all. I have not experienced that tho.

Nor have I. Actually, a lot of the bugs and errors that i've heard about I haven't experienced or seen yet...

Either your PlayStations and Xbox's are all faulty, you all got inferior copies of the game or I'm just totally fucking blind and ignorant... grin

You are saying it's normal and what game intented to be, then watch x-ray attacks in PS3 version as in this: Noob Sabiot to Mileena and Noob Saibot to Kano. Then you will see the difference between them. (When you first hit Mileena, blood will be so smooth; however when you hit Kano, you'll see frame issues)

I saw that these characters have the issue: Kano, Liu Kang, Sindel, Kitana, Nightwolf, etc..

Choose these character and try to make an X-Ray attack. Whomever you try to make an X-Ray attack, you will see the distinct frame issues. Xbox version has no frame issue. That's not slow motion I'm talking about here, it's slight frame rate issues. I think there might be an optimization problem. I send a mail about this issue to netherrealm, I suggest you to do the same. Xbox might be a lower GPU however game is made with UDK which uses DirectX which is core of Xbox.

OR...

I could not waste my time since it's NOT a problem.
