This idea came from a dream I had the other night, in the dream NRS announced an Elder Scrolls style open world Mortal Kombat game. This idea intrigued me so much that I thought I'd share it with other MK fans to see what kind of crazy ideas we could come up with if something like this ever happened. I realize this will probably NEVER happen but no harm in fantasizing right?

The game would have 8 races to choose from.
-Tarkatan
-Saurian
-Oni
-Vampire
-Edenian
-Cryomancer
-Human
-Cyborg

Multiple Joinable factions.
-Lin Kuei
-Black Dragon
-Red Dragon
-Shirai Ryu
-Brotherhood of Shadow
-Special Forces
-Tekunin
-White Lotus Society

The main story involves a 3-way power struggle between Earthrealm, Outworld, and The Netherrealm.
Your character will play an important role in which realm will win (or lose) the war.

That's everything that i can remember from my dream, so what kind of ideas/features would you like to see in a game like this? Would you even want an open world MK game? Let's hear some ideas!

Sounds dope, the issue comes in how the character's background affects the story particularly for the near extinct like the Cryomancers and Saurians. I think the power struggle in the story should be Edenia, Outworld, and The Netherrealm since, with the exceptions of the characters that are directly involved, Earthrealm seems to be completely oblivious to the other realms even after the events of MK3 unless it was merely an oversight in the writing.

I mentioned something like this a while back.I would love to see you full open world Mortal Kombat game with deeper customization than what they had in Armageddon and a lot more choices with Kreate a fatality. they could have all the realmswith unlockables all over the place and even the mini games added like puzzle Kombat and chess Kombat for fun.

I also suggested something like this a while back. You should be able to play as all of MK's races, such as the Shokan and the Centaurs, not just those mentioned in the OP, and every known realms, including Seido, Chaos and Edenia, should be immense and fully explorable.

Outworld in MKD's konquest mode was such a joke. It was so small that it was like a village. I want to explore the Shokan and the Centaurs' side of Outworld, as well as Shao Kahn's fortress, and the coliseum, both when it's crowded and when it's empty. You should be able to watch events from the seats, or even partake in the fights, against all sort of opponents such as that gigantic creature.

Blaze's pyramid should be accessible somewhere in Edenia, in a large, desolate field that you could get lost in. The Chaos realm should truly be a bizarre place. Parts of the Netherealm should be high-tech like in MKM, while others should look like the classical hell. You should be able to explore Shang Tsung's island on Earth, as well as urban areas such as the Subway. You should even be able to explore the MK universe at different points in time, such as the invasion of Earth.

Which race you play as, and/or which factions you're part of, should affect how inhabitants of every realms react to your presence, among other things. When exploring Earth as a Centaur, for example, most of the humans should react hostilely, and the authorities should be closely watching your every moves.

I know I'm asking for a lot, but that's how much potential an open-world MK game's got.

I wouldn't hate this idea but it would be a lot of work for them to pull this off.wink
