Well, I'll start by saying I'm terrible at coming up with ideas for a character's gameplay but I'm still very curious to hear everyone else's ideas. And I love Bo, so why not discuss the biggest perk of KP2?

Boon confirmed via Twitter that Bo will be sporting his (in)famous Drunken Fists. Assuming that's just variation specific, will we see the Bo Staff? What kind of specials is everyone hoping for? Other variations? Drunken Parrys?

Yes. I want the Puke Puddle. But I want it to be useful this time. I'd love for it to be programmed to act like D'Vorah's Wasp Vortex. Successful knockdown cancelled into Puddle, forcing them to block or armor upon wakeup allowing Bo to assert more pressure.

Drunken Fists - Parrys
Bo Staff - Range
White Lotus (?) - Pressure

I can't think of what Bo would be like as a zoner, but I'm hoping that's been well thought out so he has ways to deal with zoning (armored Belly Bounce/Monkey Flip?) or apply some of his own.

Created this thread on a whim so that's all I've got atm. Everyone else's current thoughts?

I'd like his Drunken Fist to have lots of feints and cancels. Drunken Fist is known for being deceptively clever and it should be reflected in his moveset.

All for the cancels.

But with that, I just worry of too much stamina dependency. Especially online where crisp cancel execution is 10x harder.

This is particularly why I dropped Marksman.

But baits for days would be the enormous upside here. Reversals, wakeups, armor, backdashes? Yeah, Bo could deal with it all.

Oh man, just thinking about Bo's gameplay possibilities is making me giddy. I hope he has a lot of kicks this time around since he did teach Liu Kang the dragon kick, and I hope he does have a lot of fast punches as well. Sorta like Kung Lao but a bit slower/sloppier. Drunken parrys sound like an awesome idea. Bo would be the perfect type of character to have a parry variation, although I could see the staff variation being better suited for that.

I also really hope he retains his Puke Puddles, honestly as much as people hated it I don't know how they're NOT going to include it. I could see it being used as a sort of oki after knockdown kinda like in MK:DA, but not as broken. Maybe the regular version of Puke Puddle has them slip and get knocked down, but ex version makes them stagger and try to retain their balance kinda like the regular version in MK:DA, allowing for pressure/mixup. He could also have a buff type variation where he drinks alcohol and gets a small damage bonus or damage resistance akin to Kotal, although that would be kinda lame.

I just really hope he is more agile this time around, but at the same time feel heavy if that makes any sense. Sorta like Goro, where he feels strong but fast at the same time. Whatever they choose to do with Bo i'm sure will be great, we haven't seen him in years and NRS must have some amazing ideas for him because he's the one they chose.

If I remember right I said Wine Buffs kind of like of Kotal's totems, Spilling the wine on the floor in a more tasteful rendition of his old vomit move and Parries

I made a thread ages ago where I spit-balled what Bo could look like in this game, moveset wise. Some of them are proper shit but it was done on a night where I was drinking whiskey, listening to music with nothing better to do. These are all the ideas I posted;

Stance: Drunken stance, always swaying back and forth but his facial features show timid concentration, what you'd expect of a master martial artist.

Variations: Wu Shi, Jojutsu, Sumo

Standard Specials
- Belly Bash
- Liquor Slip (Replaces Puke Puddle. Bo' spills liquor onto the arena floor causing opponent to slip if walked into, opening them to attacks)
- Drunken Fist (A quick 4-hit attack to the face and neck)

Wu Shi Specials
- Monkey Flips (Flip kicks)
- Sliding Kick (Slides into opponent from mid range)
- Assit Flip (Bo Rai Cho jumps and wraps legs around opponents neck and flips them into the ground)

Jojutsu Specials
- Tripped Up (Uses Jojutsu to trip opponent then smashes it into their face)
- Bone Breaker (Shoves the end of the Jojutsu into the opponent knee and face in quick succession)
- Head Case (Slaps the Jojutsu against opponents face, spinning them around)

Sumo Specials
- Earthquake (Stomps on the ground, shaking the arena)
- Kubinage (Headlock toss)
- Tackle (Bo tackle's the opponents and gets in a few successful jabs)

X-Ray
- Bo Rai Cho lifts opponent into the air over his head and slams then down onto his knee, causing back bones to break. Drops opponent to floor.
- Bo Rai Cho lifts his opponents body off the surface, pulling them into the air and throwing them down onto their head, causing neck to shatter, oppenent laying on back
- Bo Rai Cho finally belly flops onto the opponent and we see some ribs break

Fatalities
- Bo Rai Cho pours out his remaining liquor onto opponent, lights a match and sets them on fire. We get to see them burn to a crisp in glorious HD, hysterically screaming all the way.
- Bo Rai Cho shoves Jojutsu into opponents eye-socket, lifts them into the air, over himself and back into the ground on the other side, caving their head in.

Me too! I wish they'd release him first lol.

Thinking more about the Puke Puddles and how to use them, I really hope they don't just make it a part of his x-ray. Like Sonya's up bike kick, or Kung Lao's Whirlwind Kick (which Bo taught him ayyy).

They really should fully utilize all he's got to offer. Even more so now with 3 ways to break down the moveset. I also hope for agility. I'm feeling it might be like Mileena or Shinnok with fast normals and then a few whopping normals and strings that are slower but cause popups or have big damage (ex: M's F3 string, S's B3)

Absolutely. They must have been pretty excited to work with Bo to feel confident in his inclusion.

Bo Rai Cho
1.Flamethrower
2.Master of the arts
3.Jujitsu

F1 Drunk As A Skunk : Bo Burps out some fire and burns the opponent and he passes out after doing this.
F2 Don't Mock The Teacher : Bo does some Kung Fu type hits and kicks and the opponent explodes and blood goes all over the screen. He laughs after words and burps.
B1 Taste my shoe. Bo kicks the opponents head inside out.
B2 Oops : Bo farts and the opponent chokes to death.
B3 Punch The Master ( X-ray ) After the opponent punches Bo he breaks every bone in his opponents body and blood comes out of their mouth and they fall to the ground in a puddle of blood.
B4 Jujitsu Kick : Bo kicks the opponents head off.
B5 Don't Call Me Fat : Bo belly flops on the opponent into mush.
SB The Master of Arts Technique ( Throw ). Bo grabs the opponent he kicks and hits them and burps flames into the opponents face and throws their body down with a melted face.
If his puke puddle does return, it should also "stun" if the opponent is right next to him.
Instead of hitting the floor, making them slip, it lands all over them, and they shake their hands/arms, saying eww, gross, ugh or yuck, as the stun animation. It would still do the normal slip if they weren't right next to him.

Vomiting is fine, the incessant farting is unneeded. He can mist spit booze for his flamethrower fatality, instead of lighting a fart. Or he could just pour booze over them, like gasoline, n light it.

Maybe a fire mist regular special or just spits booze mist in their face/eyes as a stun move, like Sonya/Kira's kiss mist.

Parry counters are a must for Drunken Fist. He should have at least 3, so as not to look repetitive. Looks like he's stumbling or whatever, but if you hit him, you get beat down or he avoids attack, and pushes them away.

Whats the best - Results (26 votes)
Drunken Master73.08% (19 votes)
Alcoholic15.38% (4 votes)
Heavyweight11.54% (3 votes)
Universals

-Monkey Flips (Bo does a bunch of front flips that hit mid) [EX has armor and the final hit hits overhead and pops up.]

-Belly Bash (He dashes forward and flops off the opponent, send them back) [EX will have Bo tackle them to the ground and do more damage]

-Belly Flop (Has to be done in air. Bo Rai Cho belly flops from the air and slam the opponent into the ground) [EX will have him bounce up off the opponent for a second hit]

-Earthquake (Bo stomps his foot down causing a quake. The opponent will be bounced into the air) [EX will have him jump stomp and do more damage]

Variations

Drunken Master- This variation focuses on Bo's Drunken fist style. The visual cue is him being noticeably intoxicated.

-Puke Puddle (Bo pukes onto the ground. The puddle will stay for a few moments and stun the opponent if stepped on) [EX has more range and lasts longer]

-Drunken Punches (Bo does 3 sloppy back punches) [EX will have him do 6 punches and then bounce them up.]

-Steamroller (Bo rolls and trips the opponent, knocking them onto the floor) [EX will have Bo roll overtop of them after they are knocked down]

-Gains Drunken Fist Combos

Alcoholic- This variation is based on alcohol and its flammable capabilities. The visual cue is that he has a flaming torch on his back.

-Torch throw (Bo throws his torch, hitting high) [EX has armor]

-Light it Up (He scrapes the torch onto the ground, causing a bigger fire. All torch related moves do more damage.)

-BlowTorch (Bo blows on the flame and it sends out a huge flame) [EX has armor]

-Booze Splash (He grabs his jug from his back and splashes his opponent in alcohol. When the opponent is hit with a flame move, they will catch on fire and will take extra damage.)

Heavyweight- This variation focuses on Bo being overweight and his Jo staff. The visual cue is the Jo staff.

-Jo Parry (Since Jos were used to defend from weapons, it makes sense. Bo sticks out the staff and if caught, will do a take down)

-Jo Trip (Bo sticks out the staff and trips the opponent) [EX has armor and will follow up with an overhead move that pops up]

-Sumo Charge (He runs at his opponent and will knock them full screen) [EX has armor]

-Sumo Smash (Bo jumps up and disappears off screen and reappearing over the opponent. Bo's butt slams them into the ground) [EX has armor]

-Gains combos with the Jo

Bumping this with combos I've found so far with Bo.

Bo has mixups out the yin yang in Bartitsu. It's the only one I've labbed this far but for anyone who needs some ideas-

F212 into BF4 has great corner carry and damage, so it's my ender of choice atm.

Midscreen Meterless Combos

341, B3, 1+2 - 28%

341, 2, DB4, JIP, F212, BF4 - 32%

413U4, 2, DB4, JIP, F212, BF4 - 33%

Midscreen 1 Bar Combos

B233, EX DB2, NJP, 2, DB4, JIP, F212, BF4 - 43% 1 bar (works in the corner as well)

413U4, 2, DB4, JIP, 111, DF3 EX, NJP, 111, BF4 - 37% 1 bar

Meterless Corner Combos

21, 21, 2, DB4, F212, BF4 - 34%

413U4, NJP, 21, 111, BF4 - 32%

413U4, NJP, 2, DB4, B233, DF3 - 33%

In the process of working out his heavy meter usage combos. God, he's everything I hoped he would be already. Will update with more soon. Enjoy!
