I was playing some Street Fighter EX a while back and what I really liked about it was the fact that Sakura was able to charge up her Hadouken by rapidly pressing the punch button. What if something like that was introduced to MK? Persoanlly I think it would be kind of nice to have control on how effective a special attack is and how much damage it does. It obviously be used for projectile attacks only. There could be a small power meter under each character's life bar to indicate three evels of attack. The attack would be done like the normal input, but the final button press would need to be pressed repeatedly to charge up power for the variations.
This could add a bit more variety and give button mashing a purpose.

For example:
Sub-Zero's Ice Blast could be the standard freeze on level 1.
On level 2 it could be a version of his Deep Freeze where it lasts much longer and the opponent could take some damage because it's much colder.
Level 3 would be his strongest and he would be able to shoot out a blast which splits into three seperate versions of the 2nd blast covering a much larger area.

Scorpion: For him it could work for his spear.
Level 1 could be the standard spear
Level 2 can have it shooting out of the ground, tangling the opponent and slamming them into the ground on a retract
Level 3 could have it on fire, and constrict the opponent for several seconds while buring them.

This idea hs been touched upon by many people. I believe Versatile is using it also in his thread. And I think it's a nice idea. It'd be just like on Super Smash Bros Melee. The longer the charge, the more powerful the projectile. The engine needs to be tweaked before this could become usable though. In the 3d environment, the projectiles are easily sidestepped.

One of my ideas I posted before involving this though was to be able to summon a huge projectile on full charge that couldn't be sidestepped. So if the enemy did sidestep, they'd be hit by a powerful attack. Their only option is to block and take block damage rather than full damage.
I think this is a good idea.Example:

Raiden:
level1:same old electric bolt
level2:a bolt coming forward and behind
level3:a huge sphere or electric beam.

Very cool idea!! A level 3 attack could change to a homig projectile or an unblockable.

But like Tgrant said, as it stands now projectiles are easily dodged so to make it useful the engine would have to be tweeked.

yes level 3 projetiles, unblockable but not sidestepped.there for ppl would learn to sidestep more. but i also think that level 3 projectiles should take longer to charge because its easier for the opponent, he also has time to react or wonder if its a full charge,or level2,single charge would always be the fastest. but all charge up projectiles should do different things for different characters, like if scorp does a lev 3,it would be unblockable ,'spear still goes through," but for raiden, lev 3 would still shock and g o through, but cant be sidestepped, dbz style.full screen electric orb. that would be awsome. gringringringrin
