The laser fatality is very good, but that one where he removes the skeleton of the enemy is the best lol
Nice video btw.
Nice video btw.
I think it's pretty obvious that Kano was inspired by Terminator 2. It was a major blockbuster movie at the time, and all of the MK characters were inspired by characters seen in the movies.
Raiden - Big Trouble in Little China
Shang Tsung - Big Trouble in Little China
Liu Kang - Bruce Lee
Johnny Cage - Jean Claude Van Damme in Bloodsport
Scorpion/Sub-Zero - Pick your ninja movie...there were a lot back then. American Ninja?
Sonya - Cynthia Rothrock
Goro - No clue on this one.

For reasons I discussed and showed in the video, I still think the Kano/Terminator is more coincidence than anything else.
As for the male ninjas, according to an interview with Daniel Pesina, their look was inspired by a movie called Heroes of the East (also called Challenge Of The Ninja, Shaolin Vs. Ninja and Shaolin Challenges Ninja):
Rating Pending Presents: New Challenger "Daniel Pesina"

Thanks, man! I have a pretty small channel so it really helps me out when you like & subscribe :)
Anyway, yes, I do know the book you're referring to, it comes from the Kombat Kon panel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDpSFTwVRDY&t;=1265 at 21:05:
Danny: “John was like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna have Japanese ninjas. No offense.’ And I was like, ‘I’m not doing Japanese ninjas because Japanese ninjas are overdone. You see every movie out and they have a Japanese ninja.’ And I was like, ‘John, there’s also a Chinese version of a ninja—they dress a little bit different, but they’re still a ninja. And I lent him my book—Skills of the Vagabonds—and from there, the Lin Kuei was born!”

That's not totally true. In the first Terminator movie Arnold did the heart rip Fatality to a thug portrayed by Brian Thompson (Shao Kahn in mk Annihilation).
So Arnold was an ispiration to Kano.

The Lin Kuei were witches this entire time? What that means is the iconic MK ninja rivalry was esentially between a witch and a demonic hellspawn.

They are no witches. They use black magic and such. But that does not make them a witch or a Witchcrafter.
It's commonly used in asian cinema or mythologies. Especially the ninjas/stealth assasins used black magic and illusion tricks to acclompish whatever they need to.
I could be wrong as i havent read the book. I guess many compare it to the western lore, but we should not as the asian have a different view on it.

Hmm, so I guess they would be more accurately described as a wu (someone who used Chinese spells), as far as the initial character inspiration is concerned; the final end product however was a ice wielding warrior.

Pretty sure I remember Pesina saying that Richard Divizio came up with the heart rip Fatality himself, and he was actually inspired by the scene from Indiana Jones :)
