I don't think its either of them, its just a random announcer, not likely a character like they used to do back in the day.

I could be wrong about MK9 though, but I know MKX's announcer isn't Qaun Chi.

Isn't it the same person for both games, don't think its person in particular they seem to have ditched the boss being the announcer awhile ago

Its definitely the same voice actor for both games. And Im pretty sure I read that it was the same guy that did Bi-Han's and Noob's voice in MK9.

MK9 announcer is Shao Kahn.
MKX is... my guess is Shao Kahn again, or just someone else (One Being.... jk)

We've had the dark announcer voice since MK4. Traditionally it's been like this.


MK1: Shang Tsung
MK2: Shao Kahn
MK3 / UMK3 / MKTRILOGY: Shao Kahn
MK4 / MKGOLD: Quan Chi
MKDA: Shao Kahn?
MKDeception: Shao Kahn?
MK Armageddon: Shao Kahn?
MK vs DC: Shao Kahn?
MK9: Definitely Shao Kahn
MKX: Maybe Shao Kahn

MK4 -MKvDC had really bad announcers, in my opinion. Really cartoony with egregious use of pitch and modulation effects. MK 1-3 sounded like actual people and brought a lot of character and texture to the games.

MK9 and MKX's announcer is way better than the previous 3D announcers, but I do wish he'd talk a little more shit during matches. Even a laugh here and there would be really cool.

what i hate is that there is no feeling anyone is watching the fights anymore....like its no longer a tournament at all...there is no commentary...

I have to agree. The new Killer Instinct embraced the announcer right from the start, but I guess NRS feels like MK doesn't need that. It could be worse I guess. MK could have an announcer as bad as the one from Injustice. Having no announcer would be better than that.

I miss MKII-Trilogy Shao Kahn announcing. It was so perfect.
I like 4, when time runs out "What are you waiting for?!"

The mortal kombat 9 announcer was the same guy that voiced Bi-Han Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot. I really liked his voice actor, I hope they use the same guy if Noob ever returns.

Best narrator is from MKT. The intense music and the depth of the voice... It's perfect!
