For me, i want shinnok to return. he was in only 2 games! he has so much potential to like, uhhh, try to take over the realms! he could use his normal form as a sub-boss, and then use his demon form from mkm:sz as the final boss.

he has a deamon form? I wonder what that looks like...

I think Shinnok should be given a second chance. his story and idea were good concepts, but the MK team made let him down. I admit he isnt high on my list of people to return, but I do think he deserves a chance.
I think Onaga should stick around too. Maybe not for MK7 but perhaps beyond. I think Shao Kahn will be back as the boss for MK7.

Shao Kahn, but maybe not as a final boss. I'd prefer to see an all new final boss right now, but Kahn could be cool as a secret sub boss. Although Boon admitted he hates him, I'd also quite like to see Kintaro back, and I think there's enough people who'd want to give the striped Shokan another go. I thought Kintaro was the best sub boss, most bosses after him and Kahn haven't been able to measure up.

Think "Violator" from the "Spawn" movie/comics.
But I want Shinnok to return aswell. The ultimate villain to me is a fallen God.

I'd agree with those that said that Shinnok never got his fair shake in MK. He had a horrible look (the evil, posessed bellhop) and no moves of his own to speak of. As awful as the 2nd MK movie was, I could see a look somewhat similar to that character in MKA for Shinnok. A black robe, more of a regal but "in the shadows" look to him. I'd maybe put some gold on his costume. As far as moves go, I really thought that the MK team botched Shinnok. I mean, he's an Elder God, yet they basically made him Shang Tsung with no moves of his own. I'd like to see some really inventive moves for an Elder God. Perhaps turning the opponent into a different character? Summoning minions to fight along side him? The possibilities are endless. So yeah, I think that Shinnok definitely has some unmet potential.
I'm also a big fan of Shao Khan. I think that he has potential to move in a vastly different direction though. I'd like to see him reduced. No war armor, sledge hammer, and skull face. I'd like to see someone that looks a bit less strong, with a wounded appearance, but he'd look more sinister and scheming, since his recent defeats. He'd also be more "in the shadows," as I call it. One that is hiding from currently more powerful characters, but smart enough to turn the wheels of their own plan of action. I'd even like seeing Shao Khan on the side of the Earth Warriors. Scheming to get his own power back, but united by a common enemy. Can he be trusted? Something like that would breathe new life into a character that has remained largely "the villain" for most of his time in the MK series. Oh yeah, and I wouldn't want him to be a boss.
Kintaro, to me, will always be the best sub boss. He was cooler than Goro, way better than Motaro, a lot harder than Big Blue, and a more typical sub boss than Noob-Smoke. I'm not sure what they could do to bring him back, but I wouldn't mind it.
GraveDigger mentioned something about how the best boss is a fallen God, and I couldn't agree more. But I wouldn't want that boss to be Shinnok. I'd want it to be something new. Say, perhaps, the physical manifestation of ALL of the Elder Gods true essence and power. I wrote a plot before about the Gods deciding that, after the many warriors recent calamities and mistakes, that the many realms were not fit for existence, and that they'd start over. Rayden sided with them, as the sub boss, but Fujin defied them in order to lead Earth's warriors. Shao Khan sided with Earth's warriors, so that he might have Earth one day for himself. Basically, it divided previous alliances and forced new ones on the characters. Issues of trust, backstabbing, greed, vengence etc all play a role. Now that's something I'd like to see.

Shinnok has the most potential storyline-wise as a returning boss - his amazing character was drastically mishandled in MK4, and he surely deserves another chance.
This may somehow sound "fanboyish"," and I by no means would die without it, but it would be interesting to see some variant of Shinnok and some other main villain - or, alternatively, previous villains against Shinnok.
...Or, giving in to the Shinnok fandom inside, have Shinnok waste all the other powerful entities in the intro-!
Setting that aside once again, some execution of Shinnok's return would be interesting.

As a returning boss, I also believe that Shinnok should have a second chance. The idea of a Fallen Elder God is a good one if done right.
As for a possible sub-boss....I would want something new. Kinda like what they did with the Noob-Smoke thing in MK Deception. I'm kinda bored with the giant brutes that get easy once you figure what move to use over and over to beat them. I would like to see a female version of the Dragon King. Smaller, winged, quick and agile.
