My key issue with Leatherface

If we're getting a guest character, we're getting a guest character; I won't whine about that. My issue with Leatherface, however, is that he is only really a monster out of influence. He's a deformed simpleton with some kind of mental handicap. Though he does monstrous things, one must question his capacity to understand. His world is shaped by the evil will of his family.

Removing him from that environment makes the character fall apart. He's not a slasher, more of an animalistic beast set to please his family whom he fears. Order and structure really have no meaning in his mind, unless commanded by his family.

Not to pull at an extremely loose thread, but that just doesn't fit as well as the more malevolent guest characters. Freddy is a child-rapist and dream demon, Jason kills out of revenge and punishment, and Predator loves the hunt. What, did the Sawyers just enter Leatherface into the MK tournament for more exotic food?

I really can't imagine his variations without the chainsaw. I know he is an odd choice. I am not sure about him myself but he is one of the most famous slashers out there even though Pinhead would have been a better choice in my opinion.
I doubt his kung fu...

But teh cheinsawrz Fataliteez iz gunna be so kewl!!

I have several issues with this character.

- He doesn't fit MK at all.

- Variation wise the dude is incredibly limited.

- No personality.

- He's literally a fat, mentally handicapped guy with a deformed face. No ties to the supernatural or anything. This is the kind of character we have in MK now...

- Ash Williams is a better choice all around and does such a better job of fitting MK it's baffling how he wasn't chosen as the other guest.

- Leatherface gets put in the game despite virtually zero fan demand, but apparently the "silent majority" wanted him. Well how the fuck do you know they wanted him if they didn't say they did?

- He's fucking Leatherface.

Now see I'm actually an advocate for guests. But I have standards. (2 at the most and they should fit the universe.) None of my issues with Leatherface are because he's a guest, but because he's a shitty guest.

He also kills out of fear. In the original movie the first person he killed was not an order from his family at all, somebody (who he thought was an intruder) just walked right into his house, and he freaked out and bopped him with a sledgehammer. He later freaked out at what he did and at the site of more strange people outside of his house. So if for some reason he were somehow separated from his family (with his chainsaw conveniently) he would still kill people if he felt himself in danger and/or was frightened.

Removing the character from that environment doesn't cripple him though. You take a character like Leatherface out of his element, everything he's ever known, and you're going to get one of two outcomes. One, he'll crumble, or two, he's gonna go ape shit and start hitting anything that moves.

Which option do you think the savage with a chainsaw is gonna go for?

My only concern is, its gonna be hard finding gas for that fucking chainsaw in the outworld villagetongue

Unfortunately the Jason vs Leatherface comics were horseshit to me lol the writers clearly new what they were doing was stupid and out of character for Jason, but they did it anyway lol it was one of the biggest comic book let downs ever for me.

If they really wanted to do a guest character. Than why not from another fighting game? Like Killer instinct for example. Those characters look and fight like they belong in MK.

I agree 100%, but I think KI is owned by Microsoft one way or another, and Microsoft/Xbox were against having SFV crossplay with PS4, so chances are a KI guest would have to be Xbox exclusive, which would likely have gone over even worse than this pack has.

Though I agree, KI characters are really awesome, much better than any other fighting series's characters if we arent counting MK.

Aww thats true. KI xbone excl. really sux. If im gonna buy a next gen console i have to get a ps4 for shenmue 3 and SFV. I hope KI eventually comes out on PS4 aswell.

KI is coming to pc,it will NEVER come to PS4.
